Silthras raises an eyebrow at the priests remark, "While the books are a remarkable find and probably the most valuable to the right buyer...I think the locals might appreciate the platforms more.More or less instant transport between mines ... it would probably get them back on their feet quickly."
He sighs, "As someone whose life has been built on providing short term solutions to the problems of the rich and powerful, I still fear that the last explosion only brought us a little time. Perhaps another would buy more, but it's not likely to solve the problem."
As the last of the steps onto the platform, the black liquid rises around you. The now familiar sensation of falling begins and stops just as quickly as you emerge on the other, back in the rocky tunnel leading to the ruins.
Moving forward, you find the ruin also in the exact state you left it. Velyra is able to open the door just as before, and even the cabinet you unlocked still stands wide open. You go deeper in. Returning to the room with the other portal, you find it still covered in a murky, oppressive sort of darkness(save for Silthras, as before). The sphere still exudes tethers of crackling, violet energy, revealing the portal-like threshold you went through before.
You pass through, and find yourself back in the platform hub. The dust has long since settled at this point, and you can see the rubble of the stairs at the other end of the room.
Silthras' relief is palpable. He is still deeply suspicious, wondering where the zombies went and, if there were other body stealers in the other towns, what they are doing, but for now it seems the fates are with them.
Her turns to Usul and raises his eyeeyebrows, "The next phase is up to you two."
With the others watching, Usul and Dib quickly get to work, following the plan that Silthras has set out earlier. Starting with Door 3, and then 4, Dib has instructions to go through, do his best to find outside, and to then fly up and scout around, looking for a town, for about 10-15 minutes before Usul will bring him back to report.
If there is time, Dib will also scout door 6. Though not likely Silverfair, any information on other cities, and survivors, could be good to have.

Usul is clearly a bit nervous leaving his, now feathered, furry friend on his own for this long, and isn't very helpful checking other things while Dib is out, though he tries to keep a half smile on his face if approached while the others listen or check for dangers.
Silthras watches as the gnome sends Dib through the portal, and can't help but notice the way he fidgets and seems unable to focus. He continues watching for a moment, then walks over, compassion and even admiration plain on his face. Placing a hand on the gnome's shoulder he speaks quietly, "You can always tell a good leader: they feel responsible for the lives of their men. They may not often show it, but it means a lot to everyone who knows them. I'm sure Dib will be fine."

Dib Intelligence: -3
The tiny owl disappears through the first platform, reappearing in the stone room. Without much else to do, Dib flies up the stairs. Abruptly, they come to an end at a rock wall, completely solid. The owl familiar can feel a very strong breeze here at the top of the stairs, but it doesn't know what to make of it. Confused, it flies back downstairs and circles the room to make sure it missed nothing. Eventually, it is brought back into the platform hub - relaying the information to Usul for interpretation.
Around a minute later, Dib is sent through to the attic room. There is a door in the floor that presumably leads down. It flies around the attic until it finds a suitably large hole and attempts to squeeze through.
Dib Dex: 10
It takes a few minutes, but the tiny owl is able to wiggle its way through the hole, shaking itself once its free. Launching into the air, it doesn't take very long for the familiar to catch sight of the familiar inn from Feycrest. With time left to spare, the bird flies higher. The town is surprisingly empty of undead, down to roughly a quarter of what the party experienced on the first night there.
After the elapsed time, Dib returns to Usul once more.
As Silthras listens to the early reports, his optimism begins to fade. The only ones that they can not rule out as Silverfair is the basement/cave and the bedroom. He closes his eyes, pondering and waiting for Dib's report on the sixth portal.
"Did Dib see anything above the stone stairs? Where was the draft coming from and going to?" he asks.
"Two to Feycrest? That makes no sense. Unless there are two to every town, and none to Silverfair?"
He glances around at his companions, "Silverfair did have far fewer undead, did it not? Perhaps they came overland?"
(( @DM: How long after dark did the claswed ones arrive in Silverfair? And were they less prevalent? ))
((You didn't really stay that long to figure those things out. It was dark for a bit when your attention was called to the attack at the gate, but the defense at Silverfair were also greater than at Feycrest))
"An illusory wall?" Velyra offers in response to the details of the stone room. "With the tricks they've thrown at us so far, it wouldn't surprise me. Perhaps the owl could scout for us one more time and test the wall before we commit to it."
"Silverfair seems too far away for them arrive. Think about how long it took you to get to Feycrest from there. One of these has to be the one....Or else there's another platform somewhere else."

Usul takes a deep breath and looks to his little companion, who's getting used to this teleportation method, even if it isn't comfortable, and hops back through the gate to test the rock wall, and see if he can find where the wind is coming from. Usul again waits 10-15 min to call him back.
Int not required this time. ;) That was just to see if the poor bird could figure it out on his own.
This time, Dib flies up all the way to the rock wall, landing on the top step. Tentatively, the tiny owl hops forward and stretches out a wing to touch the wall. It ruffles its feathers as the tip goes through the rock, as if it weren't there at all. With a little more confidence, the familiar hops through the rock without restriction.
Coming out on the other side, Dib finds himself in a wooded area. Where he emerged from, is a giant boulder, otherwise unremarkable.
Taking to the sky, the owl emerges from the treetops and takes a look around. To the south, he can see smoke rising from chimneys of the city. The walls of the Baroness' keep are clearly visible. This is indeed Silverfair.
As the news is relayed via Usul, Silthras offers a silent prayer of thanks to the gods, then bows his head to Verlyria before tuning back to Usul and Dib with a broad smile on his face. "Well done!"
"I must say, that I am more than a little curious about the other Feycrest portal. I wonder if it is the home of the creature?"
"It may be the case."Kal says with a shrug. "We can always take it back to Feycrest and investigate on the way, we have to go retrieve the townsfolk now anyway."
Usul gives Dib some extra head scratches and is ready to follow through as well, clearly happy about his little friend's work, and that he came back safely, also remembering what Sil had just said to him.
"Let's just get this over with so we can blow that place to smithereens already." Velyra says, following the others onto the platform.

Kal slowly approaches the collapsed stairs and listens closely for any signs of the clawed undead they trapped on the other side.
