Please make either a Perception check or an Investigation check. The type of check should be determined by whether Warren is simply keeping an ear and eye out (perception) or actively asking after such things (investigation). Your call.
Warren's going to take the proactive angle. Investigation check: 11
Warren picks up several rumors, but the only one that seems germane to his purpose is that a local merchant was expecting a shipment of various food items (salt, wheat, wine, pine nuts, etc.) which failed to arrive. It was supposed to be traveling on the main road and was due almost a week ago. He would be willing to pay the value of the goods he was to pay the merchant plus a 100 gp bonus to anyone who could produce the shipment before he runs out of stock (which he estimates he will do in the next three days).
Warren will track down the merchant to get more details, though he hopes that the importance of the job is greater than what the rumors suggest.

To clarify, Warren spoke to local merchant (the would-be purchaser of the missing goods whose name is Kadira) who was expecting a shipment from a traveling merchant (the missing supplier whose name is Aflen). Kardira has said he will pay for the delivery of the goods (paying whoever is selling them for their value) and 100 gp bonus to whoever makes the shipment to arrive (whether or not they are the one selling the goods - in other words a finder's fee/bounty for facilitating the sale). As such, Warren need not track down the potential employer for details - the man, Kadira, stands before him.
Wringing his hands in obvious anxiety, Kadira says all in a rush, "Please good sir, if you have questions I will do my best to answer. But I beg you; if you are accepting this job, to please hurry."

Warren grumbles internally, "A Radiant Shield should be out smiting demons or cleansing undead, not making grocer's runs," but provides a positive response for Kadira. "Do not worry. Just tell me which way this Aflen was to be coming from, and I will gather my allies to track him down."

Griffen learns of no potential foremen at this time, though one merchant, after shrugging, suggests asking around in one of the major cities such as the local capitol of High Hills or regional capitol - the port city of Adaern. However, such an undertaking would entail a journey of three or fifteen days, respectively.
Wick sits down at the table and says, "I ran into a young druid outside the village." Wick explains how he ran into the Druid named Hittal under attack by two wolves. After dispatching the wolves the druid asks Wick for help finding his master, Ellara, who was charged with protecting the Grove of Kelnehyre where Dragonleaf trees grow. She has gone missing and there is a disturbance in the environment of the grove. The druid has requested for help in finding his master and there will be a reward for the quest. "Would you like to join me on this quest?" Wick asks his companions.
[OOG: This is a relatively short and straightforward quest. The main idea is to track down and rescue (or find the remains of) the missing druid Tree Master, Ellara - keeper of the Grove of Kelnehyre. Should any of the PCs inquire (I will take such inquiry for granted and you can decide for yourself if your character partook or simply listened to another asking the question), Wick is able to share what the initiate druid, Hittal, told him:
Master Ellara has both the ancient honor and solemn duty of caring for the great Dragonleaf Tree, Kelnehyre, one of the oldest and most powerful of its kind. However, after performing a ritual, Master Ellara was required to travel outside the Grove for a time. She said she would be gone no more than a tenday. Eight days after she left, Hittal felt a change in the grove which suggested that something was very wrong. That was two days ago. Today, strange vine-wrapped wolves began to encroach upon the grove and attack Hittal, who was defending the Dragonleaf tree. Hittal further explained that the Tree Master is linked to the power of Kelnehyre and only if that link were damaged or severed could the magic protecting the grove have been overcome. The fact that the grove revealed itself to Wick and made no attempts to keep him out suggest that Kelnehyre itself wants the ranger (and his companions) to help resolve the crisis.
If any of the PCs have questions, feel free to post and RP - I will move the story along shortly but you will still have time to prepare before heading out.]
As the party considers Wick's tale, a minor commotion draws the attention of everyone within the inn. Various cries of startlement erupt around the room in the wake of a fast-moving streak of white. Before the party can do more than notice this disturbance, the white streak leaps onto the table directly in front of Wick who, now that it has stopped moving, can easily identify it as a white fox. The small beast sits, doglike, before the ranger, cocks its head to one side, and, appatently satisfied, speaks in the voice of a young man, "This fox carries a map marked with Master Ellara's route. I have included items to aid your search. Kelnehyre's magic may open previously barred paths."
With that, the fox shakes from its neck a small pouch previously hidden in its thick fur. Within is a small map with a marked route, four small waterskins bulging with unknown contents, a large silvery leaf shaped like a dragon's head, and a beautiful white goose feather with a surprisingly sharp tip.
Wick looks closely at the items and attempts to recognize them. Nature check:16
Though he is not certain, Wick believes the odd leaf may be a leaf from a dragonleaf tree (likely from Kelnehyre itself, given Hittal's message delivered via fox). Whatever it is, the leaf carries a strong aura of nature magic and would likely interact with any ambient nature magic in its immediate area. What this may entail, specifically, is uncertain, but the effects would almost certainly be beneficial to anyone who carries the leaf.

Griffen would like to pursue finding a foreman.
Is their a local artisans guild he could inquire on? Otherwise he will try local merchants to see if they know anyone.

Make a Wisdom check, please.
Merchants might be best bet. Make an Investigation check, please.

Warren thought for a moment that he knew something relevant - even important - to this quest, but it seems to have been a figment of his imagination.
The party regroups at the inn where Wick has interesting news to share...

Grigor accepts the quest immediately.
Griffen mumbles something about good help being hard to find, before agreeing to go.

Wick is ready to go for the quest.
