The other half orc grins stupidly at the last part of her comment as she then follows it with a long drought of her current mug. Yes! S..So true! My names Zomith. I come from... uh.. wherever the **** I like! So many weaklings here. But just mean.... means they'll pay me to protect their white powdered asses! Come, sit! tell me a story, and I'll tell you one too. Been bored for the last two days! it takes her a second to realize Shautha already had.
Ulric sincerely says, "Thank you." He asks for a pointer to where the cellar is before he gestures for Yrnila to follow him. He makes his way into the cellar area as quietly as he can. He begins looking for Ghileed. If he finds her and she notices his arrival, he puts up both hands in the air to show he's not a threat and says, "We're not here to hurt you. We just need to talk."
The familiar is flying around, almost entirely by himself, aside fro ma few people guarding their carts from the ever harsh winds, the streets that had been moderately bustling moments ago were nearly barren as people hid behind walls. However the winds were becoming too strong, even for the familiar to maintain a steady balance, and he/she was starting to get pushed along with it, slowly but surely.
Inside, the barkeep grunts and closes his eyes as he takes in a long breath, before looking back out into the room. The Helm had gotten the least of those seeking shelter from the wind as most who were inside, had been inside before.
As he moves towards the cellar, once out of sight, he slows and for him the sound of the wind outside rising only helped him be stealthy as the howling of the wind became a soft roar. He pushes open the cellar door, looking around, a peculiar sound can be heard from one corner of the room and some oddly placed barrels. A rotund man has his back to the door, and can be heard huffing and puffing as the man is seeming to be enjoying a passionate moment with someone who Ulric can just barely tell is Ghileeda, as she's hiding behind the barrels. Neither of them seem to notice the entry, or they're pretending not to.
Pausing there since I don't know if you'd proceed with your other action.
Stealth - following Ulric, but Yrnila isn't trying to hide from Ulric, moreso the rest of the place to not alert Ghileeda: 9 Perception, to hear anything else going on inside the building - 10
Yrnila calmly follows Ulric. She notes the composed manner in which the man speaks - and more plainly, in which he twists words to get his way. That was good to know, and it could certainly prove useful. She is content to use her skills in reading people to assess the honesty of those she hears.
Instead, her frown deepens. Perhaps this wasn't an appropriate moment to speak with Ghileeda, and she motions to Ulric that waiting until Ghileeda is alone may be the better idea.
'White powdered asses', Shautha has a good laught at that. "He he, same here. I came here to fight and getting paid for it, but so far it has been so boring so far..."
"Stories, stories... I no story teller, to be honest." She says. "And mind's a mess... "

Seeing the two going at each other, Ulric pauses in his pursuit for a moment and allows a brief smile to come across his face.. He looks back at Yrnila and shrugs helplessly. He mouths to her, "Follow my lead." He waits patiently for Ghileed and the other man to finish smooching up a storm (or whatever they're doing). He leans up against a nearby wall and folds his arms in front of them. He doesn't watch them directly because that would be really awkward when they realized other people were in the cellar with them. Instead, he simply pays attention to what they do while thinking of how to weave his lies about them when they finish.
Yinny moves stealthily thanks to the howling outside, and can just barely hear the audible noise upstairs from the patrons of the establishment holding various conversations, including Shautha talking to someone but most of it was the expected tavern banter of 'so i kicked him between his legs' or 'my crops are doin nice' and other such things. Ulric, having different ideas chooses to wait casually, though he atleast has enough wherewithal to not stare at whatever was going on there. Upstairs, Shautha and the other half orc start a somewhat stumbling conversation, but the guard refuses to give up. Mmh... I are messed up too, but a good story of a good fight.. always worth telling. Before I come here, I was in Berio.. Belori... Beliard...
She says, stumbling over her words a bit, taking another long drought before slamming the mug on the table, and adding it to the pile, holding up two fingers. Within several long moments, a mug for her, and one for Shautha appeared before the server scuttled off with a sigh, clearly not looking forward to the work that one table would bring when they were done. Big big bear attack caravan I guarding. I kill by my own. I tell caravan pay me more for my work. They tell me 'no' So I shove my foot between manlings legs, and watch him crumple over, like a baby! Urp... she says, laughing loudly, her breath smelling of ale.
Meanwhile, downstairs the pair keeps at it, huffing, puffing and fondling each-other, and continues on for far longer than one would expect even under heated, passionate circumstances. After several minutes of this, the familiar notices that through the mans hair, Ghileeda is watching. Likely she had been watching the door, but she was now watching the pair within the room. And under tougher scrutiny by the bird, the 'fondling' and such was .. off.
Eresh doesn't have to wait to post, if that's what you're up to, feel free to do whatever and I'll work around it! And sorry Yinny, i wish i could give you more for your checks ><
Ulf looks clearly disappointed, "Dammit! I had hoped for more, but needs must, I suppose. We must find what information we can by ourselves. But..." he glances in the direction of the inn to which his companions went, "...I wonder at how you came to select such a group? The priest -- she makes sense -- but the others..." he shakes his head and holds up his hand, "...I know, don't tell me: 'such are the times we live in'. Hah. I've heard that a few times recently, and it rings more hollow with each repetition."
He sighs and stands, bowing slightly to Haeleeya. "I shall rejoin my ... companions."
Unless Haeleeya has more to add, he leaves the bath house once the weather subsides, and walks slowly back to the Helm, taking up position across the road from the inn, under an awning while whittling a piece of wood with his dagger, keeping an eye on the entrance.
Shautha's mood sombers a little at the mention of the killed bear, but she laughs noisily as soon as Zomith tells how she dealt with the situation. "Next time a manbaby like says that to you, just let the next bear eat them!" She says, nearly shouting as she laughs.
Still laughing, she takes a sip of the drink being offered to her and nearly chokes. She has a cough fit until she gets the ale out of her lungs. "...Am workin' with a weak group, two humans and a fellow hunter!" She says as soon as she can talk again. "A puny healer girl, weird one, not a cleric but... something. The other human is a wizard, I think, eyes' like a poisonous critter. And the hunter... I want to like the hunter but... Elf." Shautha grumbles. "You know what they say about elves..."
She points to the three little skulls on her necklace. "Got them from hunting baboons! Easy to kill when you know how, but little bastards have a nasty bite! Once, I saw one that looke' smart, threw rocks at me and was holding a stick like a weapon. Funny little thing."

As Cyrin imparts that information to Ulric, he narrows his eyes at the pair. So, it was a ruse. I wonder who that man is. Maybe a bodyguard of some kind? He straightens up and folds his arms behind his back. As he does, a short spear of compressed and hardened magic forms in his hands behind his back. The spear looks crystalline, and its many clear facets warp the images that pass through it like a prism. He holds it in the event that of them becomes aggressive towards him. He doubts that they will, but he likes to be prepared.
Ulric clears his voice and says with a scowl, "That's quite enough Ghileed. Can we talk to you in private, or are you busy being groped like a common whore?"

One of Ylnira's eyebrows raise as she watches Ulric's weapon form behind his back. That was interesting. Perhaps this magician could do more than sling spells. Recognizing the ruse must have been an attempt to shy herself and Ulric from approaching, Ylnira will approach and assume a neutral stance near another exit of the room, if there happens to be many. Ghileeda would only pull such a ruse if she believed it would open up an opportunity for her to escape. She folds her arms, silently awaiting a response.
Haeleeya shrugs when Ulf seems to appear visibly disappointed, starting to comment on the makeup of the group. She watched him as he continued, holding her own hand in front of her hips, waiting patiently for him to finish, and when he does That's not necessarily correct. We wish we could give you more information ourselves, but our day jobs keep us busy. We may be associated with factions but we are not free agents. We are contacts within the town, and little more. We offer assistance to those we know to help them. Else we would never have had to rely on you or the others in the first place - we would have handles it ourselves. As for the makeup of your group, Dossiers were given to the leaders of our groups and after sorting through, those with the skills best suited to this task were chosen. If it was just to find a lost caravan we could have paid anyone, but we worry that something worse may be out thee, and in general, we would rather send out more people with varied skills, than send a lone man or woman only for them to get overwhelmed by an ogre or a bear. We're thinking of your well being too.
The wind seems to be not dying down regardless of how long Ulf waits, if anything it continues to just pick up. The wood in the bathhouse seems to be creaking dangerously, and even Haeleeya is starting to look worried.
With Shautha, the guard laughs at her suggestion, pounding her fist on the table But you know stupid animals, never attack when you want them to! But I left caravan after fight. Let them fend for selves. They no want to pay me what I earn, they can fight on they own. for once, she takes a shallow drink, setting down the mug with a 'huahh' as she listens to Shautha continue, grunting a little as she mentions every member of her group, chuckling at one, and nodding at the last one. Making her hands move in a 'snapping a twig' fashion Yes. Yes. All orcs know what they say about elves. Should slip knife in his ribs when he sleeps.. oh wait, that is what elf would do! she bursts out laughing at her own comment before continuing as she rests her elbows on the table... Should leave group of weaklings, they only make you weaker as an orc.
She drinks as Shautha continues telling her more about her hunts now and though she nods with approval, she also laughs even more You mean little monkey that has big red ass?! haha! Oh those things tricky, but.. why did the gobs give them big, red, ass!
There were no other entrances to the cellar, so likely Yinny stays there but makes it obvious the 'jig' is up. And after several long moments, and the wind outside sounding more dangerous Ghileeda drops the ruse, and the man with her turns around, saying If only you coulda just kept not noticing I could have kept enjoying her touch a bit longer. Ah ... Shut up creep, you knew it was only because I was being followed and you're the only one I can trust not to actually cop a feel.
So... what the hell do you two want. I've never had creeps follow me this far. I should call the town council and have you arrested for stalking!
Persuasion (for Ghileeda to allow a nice, private, interrogation chat to occur, using the Guidance from the Priest of Lathender): 22
Liars. All of them. They don't deserve to live. Everyone has secrets to hide. The man you've made as a companion has lied to get his way. Harper agents? Remember? Certain lies are necessary. I now know Ulric to be a capable liar. Is that not a bad thing? We need to figure out what Gilheeda's hiding. No lies are acceptable, but I agree, the voice begrudgingly replies. Ylnira tunes it out for the moment.
"I do not believe we are the offending party, if stalking is the crime in question," Ylnira calmly states. "We simply have topics we would like to discuss with you, in private. Do not worry. I am a medic who is currently working at the All-Faiths Shrine, if that comforts you. I assure you we mean no harm."
Seeing that no aggressive actions were immediately taken, Ulric allows his pent-up spell to fade away into the air with a faint crystalline tinkling sound. After hearing Yrnila's statement, his gaze flickers to her, and she can see a very slight nod of approval. Nicely done...He looks at the other man and jerks his head towards the door to the cellar and says, "That means you need to leave."
The man looks at the pair, then at Ghileeda, then back at the pair, and a long pause ensues before he looks to her and says Sorry Ghileeda, I did as you asked, and it fell apart. I aint staying here to get my ass beaten for your sake. This was your problem to begin with! the man exits the room, with his hands up in 'i mean you no harm' fashion, as he tries to skirt by the pair who had just asked him to leave.
Ghileeda on the other hand stays put, doubting she'd get as fair of treatment if she tried the same thing, her brow clearly twitching nearly as much as the rest of her was starting to shake, as she points an accusatory finger at Ylnira.. Ha, I beg to differ! You came into my place of work and started speaking aloud. It isn't my fault if I get curious or bored with patrons talking of current events.... and its not like you were trying to keep your conversation private, it could be heard from halfway across the room! I just wanted to see if there was anymore news since it's been the talk of the town for weeks, and that Vallivoe is always accosting everyone he can about his little book! Then when that creep started getting near me, I just couldn't stay anymore, and you followed me here from there. If anyone here is stalking, it's you two!
I have every right to leave early when someone like that is coming after me, everyone knows I was raped and get uncomfortable around people like that!

Ulric shakes his head and says, "That's not what we're here to talk about. My companion and I are members of the Harpers, and we have been tasked with investigating what's happening around here in addition to protecting you. We have reason to believe that you have several powerful enemies." He continues with a humored smile and chuckles as he says, "With the strange things happening of late, I wouldn't be surprised if you were being hunted by a cult."
As he says that last line, he watches her reaction carefully behind his mask of humor. If she reacts, she probably knows the information he needs. If not, maybe she was simply curious.

Ulric see's Ghileeda's eye twitches at several points during what Ulric had to say, but she had been twitching and shaking since the pair had confronted her, so he's not quite able to get a read on her. He senses something a little off, but no matter how hard he wracks his brain, everything she's doing seems to be at-least a somewhat logical reaction to what's going on.. and come on, "I can be scary to some" or some similar excuse may lead him to this conclusion. Regardless, he senses that she's not holding anything back, and that she may, truly, just be a scared, inquisitive victim in all this.
H-Harpers? she parrots, not seeming to doubt his words. For some reason I don't doubt you are, but why would you care even if what you say is true? I'm not some noble, or some organization that can get you rapport. And you haven't asked my anything along those lines. Her expression says she trusts that you are who you say you are, but her fear only seems to be growing.
Upstairs, the man whom Ghileeda was using moments before, walks out of the building, with the Barkeeper shouting at him Justran, where... do you think you're going.... Who will mind the cellar? he asks, as he puts whatever he's cleaning down to follow. Sorry boss, but I aint gonna get my ass kicked for Ghileeda, even if she is like the daughter you never had. I'll come back later when they're gone. Justran says, before walking out of the establishment, leaving the barkeeper standing dumbstruck near Shautha and the guard - Especially since he just walked out into the heavy wind.
I will update the campaign notes in a few days, or a week, depending on when a certain trigger happens.
At the suggestion of leaving the group, Shautha shurgs. "One job, just one job. People who hired me talked about a neco... necrona... One of those stupid casters who play with the dead and stuff, and now I really want to break his skull open, that should be fun!"
"Isn' it obvious?" She says in answer to her last comment. "It's so they can get kicked there all the better!" As she's laughing and starting to babble some more nonsense of her own about monkeys and asses, she turns to look at the Barkeeper when he shouts at the man leaving. "What was that about?" She asks at him, still obviously drunk. "If you need someone to kick someone's butt, I can do the job!"

A look of concerned sympathy comes across Ulric's face as he says, "About a month ago, some of our operatives sent here to investigate the strange occurrences of late discovered a nest of thieves embedded in the countryside in the process. They infiltrated it and were rebuffed by powerful magical defenses. HQ mobilized a group of agents that managed to bypass all the defenses and monsters guarding the site with heavy casualties.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Persuasion (for Ghileeda to allow a nice, private,
interrogationchat to occur, using the Guidance from the Priest of Lathender): 22Liars.
Nicely done... He looks at the other man and jerks his head towards the door to the cellar and says, "That means you need to leave."

In the center of the complex, we found many images of you and maps of the area around us. There were also writings that we are currently trying do decifer. My colleague and I were sent to find you. Do you possibly know why people are interested in you? Have you been participating in any illegal gatherings? Seen anything you weren't supposed to?" A look of concern comes across his face as he says with a pleading tone, "We can only help you if you tell us what you know. Please."
