This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Old Malik scrambles as Harley takes a hard hit, cupping his onyx staff's head pulling a small globule of a bubble off it, looking towards Harley so far but so close to the creature and gives a gentle blow that ambly floats towards Harley. As the mote floats to fulfil its destiny, the cane once again goes into the air and a small javeline of light appears above Malik, bringing down his cane in the direction of the creature the javelin of light flies towards the creature's maw. It strikes the creature’s mouth, as though snatched from the air. The light of Malik’s magic illuminates the fang-like embers that line its jaws before exploding in a dazzling display of light. The creature hisses in pain!
Daelnar moves away from the creature, opening himself up to its savage bite!
Attack @ Daelnar: 16 Damage: 26 plus 8 fire damage.
Immediately, Shagar's arrow and Katia's psychic bolts slam into the creature. It rumbles like a furnace as its life burns away, teetering high in the air on its many legs. Then it crashes into the earth, its carcass steaming in the cold.
"We should probably do something about that," Red Chanter says to Malik, nodding toward Daelnar's unconscious form. "But after... Do you think this thing's edible?" she muses, raising an eyebrow. "We're going to be out here a while and the rations won't last. It might not cook easily but I do have a taste for exotic foods..."
"I am surprises it did not cook itself - it feels hot even from here."Katia was slowly walking along the corpse. "The thing is enormous... Kind of beautiful too."Despite the monster was about to eat them up (well, it felt this way) the colors alone were fantastic. "Too bad it is so aggressive." She finally noticed that Daelnar was still lying in the snow. "Oh!" She did not interfere with Malik's healing but looked at young man with a worry "Do you think we can continue moving today? May be a need to take some rest?"
Whistling aloud for a moment, "Boy howdy, you lot do pack a punch. Pretty but chaotic magics. Good for a fun time." Trotting over as best he can on the ice, with a fake leg, Malik shuffles his hardy winter poncho saddling up to the unconscious coworker. "Took a lickin' kept on ticking to the end there. Good on ya child." as he begins to patch up Daelnar.

After which Malik wipes his hands off inthe biting snow, albiet much of it melted from the heat of combat and the creature. "Whether we move or not, depends on how the wounded are feelin'. If we're to settle up here for a respite, I bet I can find somethind edible in the firesnake. You can eat anything if you try hard enough. Even wood!"

"Right! Right! One of ye wee buff ones help me pull the haunches. Its time to find whats tasty!" Drawing his old weathered but well cared for survival blade, the old man plops down near the corpse and spends a good long while carefully flaying portions of the skin off, checking for fat stores, muscles, as well as taking care to avoid whatever produced the heated spew. Part way through, the Old Man humms a nostalgic tune, one others may have heard as a child growing up in these parts, but one rarely anyone could place the name of.
Survival:8Malik would appreciate a Help Action from anyone~ If so, Adv: 20
Harley helps Malik to see if there are any edible or otherwise useful parts of the remorhaz. She especially tries to determine whether any of its body parts could be used as weapons, for example, whether its spikes or legs could be used as javelins. "I could do with a short rest, if we have the time for it. I wouldn't mind continuing either though, if we still have many of those kits or other healing devices."
(( Per short rest. This feat is crazy useful, just really costy due to ASI. Healer kit non feat for stablization is no restricted))
As an action, you can spend one use of a healer's kit to tend to a creature and restore 1d6 + 4 hit points to it, plus additional hit points equal to the creature's maximum number of Hit Dice. The creature can't regain hit points from this feat again until it finishes a short or long rest.
Harley determines that the remorhaz's chitinous legs and teeth could be fashioned into a crude javelin or dagger. She's able to recover 7 "javelins" and 7 "daggers".
Its body is remarkable. In death, the burning furnace inside its gut seems to go out. After a cooling off period, it's a matter of chopping through the thick exoskeleton. Underneath, the muscle is strikingly similar to any other wild game, such as bear or buffalo. You are able to salvage 18 rations. The cold will help keep them preserved, but they should be eaten soon.
The next several days pass without major incident. The weather remains clear and cold, with occasional snow. There is always frost. On the sixth day of travel, you spot a minor escarpment in the distance. As you get closer, you can see that a series of large stones are clustered together near its northern edge.
(Survival DC 10)
The stones have been intentionally placed in a manner consistent with a large nest.
(Arcana or Nature (you can roll both) DC 15)
You recall that white dragons are known to roam the reaches of the far north. The manner of the stones' arrangement, and their size, suggests dragon activity.
Katia was the first one to notice, mostly because she knew nothing about tracking and kept looking for something the eye actually can rest upon. "Wait! Those rocks - over there, see? I might be crazy but after that beast I would believe anything. It looks like the white dragon can be near by!"
"Perhaps we should take our time and try to conceal our movements while giving this place a wide berth. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not particularly eager to face down a dragon."
The group avoids the escarpment, detouring west, then north.
Another forty miles and the group enters Thin Sheets. Here the mossy and rocky tundra gives way to enormous patches of thin ice that form a shell over deep, frigid water.
On the eighth day, the wind picks up, and a snowstorm engulfs the region. Still, Shagar finds the trail of an ice mephit. Another 1 hours later, through wind-whipped snow and biting cold, you notice a half-submerged, dark-blue stone building poking up through the ice. A gray stone door is carved to look like a face with a half-exposed skull. Scribed above the door is the word “SALSVAULT.”
(Durng the dragon bit) Old Man Malik grimaces hard, rubbing his lost limbs as well as a prolific scar under his clothing that runs along his torso-signs of his bissection in previous times to a white dragon. "Aie... Don't mess with them. Away we go. Quite and fast children."
(later)
"Salsvault eh? Careful on approach, but it be fine to get out of the cold and wet snow a bit. How's we want to do that?" While the old man allows others more versed and younger figure things out, he tries to look around for any scavanger small creatures still out or signs of such.
(What would I need to roll to try and find a small animal of some sort? I have Speak with Animals invocation. Old Man wants to whisper to an animal to see if it happens to know much about whats around here.)
8 +4 if animal handleing, -1 if nature (damn int based) +2 if perc, +4 if survival
"Get to the door and open it?" Katia's "wisdom" did not go farther than that and if more careful and knowledgeable would not do anything, she would try her wise approach.
"Not as beautiful as I pictured it," Harley observes, "but it doesn't look like there's any other way in. I'm ready to smash some animated armour, if that's what it comes down to."
"Aye, let us get in from this cold and make a start on exploring this ruin." The journey had taken both a physical and mental toll on the young man. He was not accustomed to crossing quite so desolate a plain, and the creatures inhabiting it were certainly not what he was used to coming across. Not that inside the ruin promised to be any better, Daelnar had no idea of what was likely to inhabit the place but figured is couldn't be worse than the risks they had faced on the way here.
