Disconcerted by the apparent lack of reporting of the attempted theft that their new associate mentioned, Red will make his way back towards where they came from in thought. But keeping an eye out for the others who form their little cohort conspiracy.
(Assuming I undrestand the situation correctly Mithann stated she awoke to somene riffling through her gear. Reported to the guards who state no ones been in or out. Then this guard at least has not heard of attempted thieving but did confirm no one left and returned they know of. Or did Mithann more imply she did not report the attempted theft-but just asked about comings and goings instead? Before I pull on that thread)
Deep in the night I was awaken by some shuffling nearby, and in the darkness I saw figures sneaking in the shadows nearby." she looks back at you, "My sleepy eyes weren't able to discern details in the darkness, but I'm sure these were the rumors we talk about." she pauses for a moment, taking in a spoonful of soup, her hands shaking slightly, "I've questioned the guards, no one got in or out of the caravan encampment that night or any other. They're here. The servants of the Frostmaiden are here."
((Mithann actually never mentioned reporting the attempted theft. She sounds close to the caravan master and to be among the "authorities" here, though.))
Mia grins when she finds the track of little critters. "Haha! Little ones. You guys do know how to fight the winter don't you" Civilized people may consider mice small and weak, but Elves know their strength and survival instinct. Being the bottom of the food pyramid doesn't mean they are pathetic. It means they are the basis of the ecosystem. Like an old druid saying when a tiger starves to death, rodents find their food. Mia has to meet these little survivors and ask their help to save the nature of Icewind Dale. But for that she needs to wait until night and sneak off from her wagon.
---
Mia takes note in druidic about everything she has observed today. She will share her knowledge with other adventurers. But before backing to her friends,Mia has to visit another friend. And that's the couple she has met several days ago.
From the day she saw them, Mia assumed that Gerard and Ionna had the same taste as her. Mia constantly visited the couple and shared her valuable (but not too valuable) collections. The little Elf stands beside the couple's wagon and calls out. "Hello! Gerard,Ionna, are you in there! I have such pretty things to show you…Or are you having private time? My mum and dad told me not to disturb them when they have private time. Though they never told me what private time means. You can tell me if you are in the middle of private time!" … And the little girl says this with a really loud voice.
Vanys looks curiously at Arsenio when he mentions using 'the graces of the Lady of Coin' and responds by asking, "How is your goddess planning on reversing this curse may I ask? Perhaps I could be of aid." Vanys is just trying to see if Arsenio is genuine in his goals of trying to remove the curse or if he is bluffing. The actual answer to the question is less relevant to Vanys than whether the priest appears truthful.
As Mialee approaches and calls out, Gerard comes out of the wagon and onto the driving seat—it seems as if they were just finishing preparation to get back on the road, or something like that—and greets you warmly, "Hello, there, Mialee! Hoping you're well on this last stretch of the road, eh?" you see the flap of the wagon open a bit, enough for you to catch a glimpse of Ionna staring from inside, her scowling face showing she didn't like your approach for whatever reason, he half laughs half coughs awkwardly at the mention of "private time", drawing some stares from nearby people "Hah, don't worry, you didn't disturb." *cough* "Anyway, uh, can't wait to hang my feet up near a fireplace somewhere. Is anything the matter?"
—
Arsenio raises one eyebrow at Vanys' question, "Well, you see, if these people are able to embrace the Lady and sacrifice enough, I'm sure her graces will be enough to overcome any curse placed upon this forsaken land." he states as if it was obvious, "As I've said before, give, and ye shall receive."
Arsenio seems as he couldn't care less about the curse or the people of Ten-Towns. You'd guess it's probably a missionary mission imposed by his church, one he can't wait to get over with, and one you can't help but feel was imposed upon him as a sort of punishment. Though however frail you might think his faith may be—more a practical position of superiority in the church than a life mission he embraced—you perceive him as truthfully a member of the church of the Lady of Coin, at least.
Believing Arsenio enough to doubt that he is the infiltrator, Vanys smiles and makes small talk with Arsenio for a bit before transitioning into a conversation about the other people in the caravan. Eventually, when it seems natural, Vanys asks, "Do you think anyone here could be working for the Frostmaiden? I mean surely you don't believe the rumors that one of her spies is among us?"

Murderous weather, endless darkness and menace of evil cultists. None of them can hurt Mia's happy jolly mood. So it's impossible for a mere mortal's gaze to make a dent on her smile.
"I'm pretty fine .Thank you! " Mia walks to the side of the driver seat. The Elf girl opens her pouch and shows Gerard her new collections which she picks up from the roadside this morning. "Look at these cute little sisters. This lady has a white star on her black body. This Tiger's eye has the most beautiful pupil I've ever seen. And this! This looks exactly like a seashell petrified by a basilisk! Do you have any idea why a seashell crawled up on the ground and met basilisk? Oh no. I nearly forgot why I came here!"
Mia closes her pouch and looks up Gerard."I realized that…although I enjoyed sharing my collection with you, I have never seen your collection before. That's awfully rude to friends who have the same hobby, isn't it! And I remember that you and Ionna gathered a lot of stuff the day we first met. So …" Mia takes a glance at their wagon and says. "Can I go into the wagon and have a look at your collection?"

Observing the reaction from the couple to her request.
Arsenio responds to Vanys dismissively, "Nonsense... The superstitiousness of this rabble got the better of their judgement. I'd wager a common thief is up and about posing as something more. The guards will eventually step up and actually do their jobs." he turns to look Vanys up and down for a moment "You're not afraid of these rumors, certainly?"
—
Gerard seems puzzled at Mialee for a moment, "Same hobby? What are you talking ab-" then suddenly jumps at the mention of gathering a lot of stuff, "O- oh! Ah, yes, that day..." he laughs awkwardly, looks to the other side and scratches his head "W- we were just picking up something we dropped when the wagon skidded through a frozen patch of the trail earlier." he chuckles, "Don't get me wrong, though! Your stones are... really pretty!"
You clearly perceive you caught him off-guard, and he had to make something up on the fly to cover something else he'd rather not share. You detect a lie in there about what he was actually doing the day you met.
"Afraid?" Vanys says incredulously, "Never. Besides, even if there was a spy for the Frostmaiden, what could they do? I mean what power could the Frostmaiden possibly have given this person to evade all of the guards?"
(OOC: Vanys is trying to get Arsenio to talk about the powers that a God(ess) could grant a follower as he supposes the priest has a better idea of what those powers could be, than he does himself.)

Arsenio ponders on your question for a moment, "Well, I suppose even a minor goddess like this is able to grant her followers a small measure of miracles, especially here in the north where she and her followers are at home." he rubs his chin for a moment before continuing, "As the Lady of Coins showers those worthy in wealth, so should their mistress grant them... blizzards? Or at least send those over her enemies, not her followers." you get a sense that he has no actual idea what he is talking about, and might only be trying to sound knowledgeable.
What other's told about the caravan people did not look anyhow suspicious to Mihris but it gave something to work with, since her efforts to establish any connection with people here were fruitless so far. She tried her luck now with the new information and begun with master Ignazio himself.
"Blessing of the forests upon you, Master Ignazio. A cold day today." Mihris gave him her most friendly smile. "How are we doing? It is two more days? Three?"
She was trying to involve the caravan master into a friendly chat so he would be inclined to talk about caravan life and dealings freely and openly.
As Mihris approaches Ignazio, she sees he was just finishing some hushed conversation with Mithann, and as the priestess wandered off to one side you could see Ignazio shake his head with eyes closed, as if somehow displeased. A moment later he tries to shake the feeling of as you approach, "Oh, good day to you partn- I mean, priestess." he respectfully nods, "Yes, I'd say maybe three, four at the most. Downhill from the Spine of the World is always better than the first half. Though Aurilsbreath does pick up in the Dale." he cracks up a satisfied smile despite the bleak situation, "We'll have hearth and warm food soon enough in the Northlook, not to worry. May I be of any assistance?"
Mihris smiled again "It's a good news indeed and people can use some right now. The travel through the snow was hard on many. There are all kind of scary rumors floating around about the strangest things. You might no believe it but some worry so much that claim followers of Auril joined or follow the caravan and this is the reason the road is hard. Can I assure them that you know for a fact no strangers joined us and nothing out of ordinary happened?"
She was as unassuming as one can be, demonstrating only willingness to help.

Making his way back up the caravarn, Red catches sight of Vanys in mid conversation and decides to linger while they all have chatter, and opts to make petty talk with random people about food; while also keeping an eye out to see if anyone is watching over his cohort.

(effectively just random talking or walking with the caravan but is trying to keep an eye out for anyone overly curious about Vanys (and anyone who is near him; as I'm not entirely certain on everyones locations but I imagine the caravan isn't terribly large)
Vanys will also just make small talk with Arsenio until the time comes to make camp for the night. When he notices Red come closer, but not approach fully, Vanys just keeps talking to Arsenio certain that Red is up to something and not wanting to mess with the artificer's plan.

"Oooh is that so?" Mia squints her eyes and looks at Gerard's face. Then she expels a heavy sigh. "That's really disappointing. I thought …that I have finally found someone who can share the same hobby. But… Well it's still nice to have a friend with good taste and good looking! Bye Gerard! I will show you something more amazing next time!" Regaining her usual smile, Mia waves to Gerard and runs off from the couple's wagon.
When she reaches far enough that Gerard and Ionna cannot hear her, Mia stops and kicks the snow at her feet. The coldness can't hurt her mood, the darkness can't take her sunny nature away, but…" It's hard to be lied to by your own friend, isn't it? Well…At least Miri and others would never betray me." Mia smiles a sad smile and trudges back to their wagon. The little Elf decides that she will give her friends a big and long hug so that she can get back the warmth that Gerard's lie took away from her.
Ignazio adjusts his small bonnet, purses his lips and sighs when Mihris presses the matter, "Yes, folks seem all worried about that now. Listen, everyone here paid the gate tax back in Luskan and was searched by their Ship crews there, and head count after head count not a single person added or left on our way." he says annoyedly, "Regardless, I know the dangers of the road and we have enough well-paid guards from Ship Rethnor with us here. Moreover, our priestess convinced me of calling up a meeting tomorrow before we reach our destination, in which we'll get this settled through the authorities we have here. We'd even value the word of valued newcomers such as yourself and a few others in the matters." when he mentioned authorities, he seems to nod generally towards the back.

The moment Red decides to make small talk based off on one of his favored subjects, it gets the better of him, his attention quickly switching from what he could see from the corner of his eye to the different kinds of seasoning he was mentioning to a nearby amused traveler. After a few long moments talking about cooking, he finally snaps and notices how long he's been doing so, with no idea of whoever was watching while Vanys seems to continue to talk to the old priest.
—
Vanys continues to talk to Arsenio for a long while, which eventually involves the noble—which introduced himself as Hirkam Hawkyns—riding beside his wagon. The young man seems much more faithful than the priest, voluntarily joining the old man in a pilgrimage to honor Waukeen, and seemingly to see the hardships of a cold land before returning with new ideas on how to run his family businesses. One curious thing you quickly note as conversations go by, is that Arsenio never again mentioned Danai, even when she passed close by on her horse.
—
Gerard seems genuinely touched as the little elf's humor turn, he smiles and scratches the top of her head before she leaves much in a way one would a child "Don't worry little Mia, I'm sure you'll find the most beautiful rocks in Bremen once the river washes by. People say they glitter like gold under torchlight." and just as you leave the wagon you catch a glance of Ionna opening the flap just enough to talk something to Gerard in a scolding manner and adjust the fold of his coat to better cover his chest.
