Kray your blessing carries the first strike home and backed by the power of your smite you do a terrific amount of damage. The giant is tottering now and looks ready to fall.
Brenvull you bring down your sacred flame Dex 6 Just as you Lostur release your second blast and in the words of the masterful Mr Mercer,
Lostur is a simple creature, singularly focused on a task when he puts his mind to it, mostly because he doesn‘t have the mental capacity to process much more than that. So while the others valiantly battle the demogorgon, smiting and freezing and blasting it with all manner of impressive and deadly attacks, he doesn‘t see much of it.
What he does see when he turns around to glance at the demogorgon with his finger-gun, is that the creature is almost lit from within, surrounded by a halo of light and practically burning from within from the radiant fire being poured into it from every direction. Even its eyes are beginning to burn up at that point, and holy flame is coming out of every orifice on its ugly face.
Lostur, of course, has no idea that was the doing of his hard-working companions. Instead, he sees a demon so angry at him for stealing its toy that it‘s literally about to burst into flame and destroy him. So, he makes a high-pitched screaming noise and aims the blast at its gaping maw.
The dark eldritch energy flies into the demogorgon‘s mouth, which snaps shut. There‘s a beat, and then the small, muted sound of an explosion as the blast detonates. It‘s just enough to create a small hole at the alex of the demogorgon‘s head, and of course, all that radiant energy finally finds an outlet of escape. There‘s an almost tangible drop in pressure in the room before the creature‘s head explodes outwards in a blaze of radiant light.
Afterwards, the silence is deafening, but for the beautiful motes of slowly fading radiant sparkles that drift to the ground like the purest snow. And the wet plap of demon gib and blood as the few remaining bits of its exploded head respond to gravity‘s call.
“… So do we still need this thing?“ Lostur asks after a moment, gesturing at his maul.
Lorvax snaps back to attention as Lostur annihilates the demogorgon. He stops sheepishly waving at Kray and turns his attention to the large maul in Lostur's hands.
"Hadn't we better get rid of that?"The words came as more of a statement than question. "Maybe Brenvull can discern whether the weapon still contains the beast's taint."
"I'd rather it be destroyed nonetheless, filthy weapon! I also don't have anymore scrolls to identify it. And detecting magic takes some time..." Brenvull reacts. "Luckily the creature is destroyed. Well done Lostur. And of course well done everyone, I thought a few of you would lose consciousness when that fire hit us. Praise to Bahamut." Immediately he starts preparing for the cleansing ritual: "I think we should cleanse this place as soon as possible, rid it of the taint from that foul creature. After that I will pray to Bahamut to restore us all a little."
Cleansing (Religion): 19 (if advantage because of help: 11)
Lostur drags the weapon outside of the shrine, feeling somehow like it shouldn't be there during the cleansing. He points at the giant elk waiting outside with a stern expression. "You! Watch over this! Make sure nobody bad takes it!"
Stomping back into the shrine, he does his best to help Brenvull purify it, along with the others. Afterwards, he rubs the back of his neck uncomfortably. Even with the prayer to Bahamut, he still feels weakened from the attack of the wraiths. "How many more of these are there? It just keeps gettin' harder," he mutters.
(Lostur would still like to short rest to get some spell slots back, even if we all got healed... Lostur would actually like to long rest to get his missing HP back, LOL, but we'll see!)
"Though our mission is urgent..."Lorvax starts,"It serves no-one that we should continue on until we drop from exhaustion. I agree, a much needed rest is in order before we discover any more horrors in this place."
((Lorvax is currently at 19/44 HPs - is a short rest enough for everyone?))
The cleansing of the temple goes smoothly and the healing you provide Brenvull is greatly appreciated by all. You all agree to take a short rest here before addressing the last two shrines.
Is there anything that any of you would like to do before making your way across the temple to the penultimate shrine?
"There should be only 2 left. But let's take a little rest for now." Brenvull will prayer of healing during the short rest since he doesn't need one.
After an hour of rest he will look out of the shrine and see if anything has changed before he says: "Well, let's get on with these last two shrines shall we." and (if no-one protests) he will start off towards the other wing of Bahamut trying to peek in what is awaiting them there.
As you all take your rest next to the shrine the peace of this chamber infuses you and you may all take 1d8 inspiration with you as you leave. (1d4 for you Lostur due to the shadow on your soul amplified by the scary death coins you picked up ;)
Looking out into the main temple you note that the spirits continue to stare in your direction. Their efforts to save you in this last battle seem to have cost them however, as they appear less present, more translucent. They are very aware of you now and they look sad and hopeful.
You make your way to the far right shrine, glancing up toward the highest and final shrine on the way past. Strangely you can not see far up into that passage; it appears to be shrouded in darkness.
You arrive at the shrine chamber and hear weeping coming from within. How do you all approach?

On his way to the other side of the temple Brenvull makes thankful head-nods towards the spirit for the help they provided when his companions almost perished in the last fight.
On seeing the darkness he will cast light on his shield (does this help? or is it magical darkness?) and from outside call into the room: "Who's there? Are you some evil spirit trying to lure us into our doom? Do you need help?"
((Can I roll to see if I have any indication what's going on inside? (Insight: 23) (Religion/History: 13 (To see if he knows about creatures luring us in?)) ))
The darkness was emanating from the main shrine as you passed by and no your shield did not penetrate it. The last wing of Bahamut however is well it and your shield drives what shadows there are away easily.
You can tell that this is a female crying within, but nothing in your knowledge of the temple gives you insight into what awaits.
At the sound of your voice the weeping stops and a ragged voice calls out, "H..help me."
"I feel nothing awry. Let's move in. I will go first to perform some healing if needed. You guys keep alert to come to my rescue in case it does turn out to be a trap.."
Brenvull will carefully walk in: "Mam, what seems to be the problem? We're cleaning the shrines, you are welcome to join if you want"
"... Definitely a trap," Lostur says as Brenvull walks in. He roars in after in his loudest voice:
"Lay a hand on my people and I'll pull your intestines out through your nostrils, champ! And if you don't have intestines, I'll make you feel like you do! In the bad way!"
"That... was definitely one of the ways we could have handled the situation"Lorvax says to Lostur."Of course... if it is not a trap..." he does not finish the thought, instead choosing to remain quiet and follow Brenvull.
"Perhaps... it's not a trap and our first chance to know something of the responsible for this..." says Kray to the rest in low voice "I just hope we haven't blew it away.." she chuckles.
