((Alyyja, it looks like the dice roller didn't work for you. I think you need to remove the space in [roll ] and [/roll ]. I'll say, with your passive perception alone, you don't notice the smoke until Sael points it out, and even then, it's very faint.))
"Hmmm..... we could also hope to camp a little ways away and avoid conflict. Either way, I should not be the first face they see," Virkaz says as he readies his blade
“Right then. Seems we don’t have a particularly, err, stealthy figure with us. With that in mind I suggest we either loop around the fire and camp some distance off, or we take the direct approach and go openly to see what is what,” Kaemgen suggests.
“We are not far off from the road, it’s as like as not to be just other travelers calling it done for a night. If we go and introduce ourselves we’ll at least be able to judge the situation instead of speculate. I suggest we do that but it should be a group decision as we have no leader... so what say you all?” Kaemgen asks.
Sael glances again towards the smoke, then at the group around her. She shrugs. "I would rather know who it is, and their intentions, than have them find us camping somewhere unsuspecting," she says, in agreement with Kaemgen's suggestion. Having been attacked in the middle of camping before, she is not eager to repeat the experience.
"Sounds good. I am great at many things, but stealth.....not one of them by a long shot!" Ianric says with a deep chuckle, a confident smile on his face as he steps forward to lead them onward to the other camp. He stops for a moment and hangs his flail back at his hip but readies his shield just in case. Approaching with a weapon in hand would seem aggressive and likely not send a great message if they didn't want to fight right away.
Alyyja follows Ianric a few paces behind attempting to assess whether there is anyone lying in wait to ambush unsuspecting people investigating the smoke.
As you approach, those who look around don't notice anyone lurking in the bushes waiting to ambush you. Moving closer, you see that there is indeed a small campsite tucked away behind a cluster of bushes. The fire in the center is on its last legs, seeming to have been burning for several hours now. A single horse grazes contentedly, loosely tethered to a cart stacked with crates and burlap sacks.
There are four humans at the camp, two men and two women. Three are unarmed and appear to be merchants. The fourth wears simple leather armor and has a shortsword strapped to her belt. All four are currently unconscious. At first glance, they don't appear wounded, but their awkward positions indicate that they probably didn't just settle in early for a night's rest.

“Looks like they’ve been overcome by... something. I don’t see wounds but it appears they just dropped where they stood. Could this be magic, if some kind?” He asks, looking around at the rest of the group...
“I’m wary of approaching in case it’s some kind of localized effect..,” Kaemgen scans his immediate surroundings, looking for a large stone or small rock he could throw at one of the downed campers. Something with enough heft to may jar one awake without actually doing any lasting harm. If nothing else, he could always chuck a coin at them...

"If given a moment to set it up, I can detect magic," Sael offers, eyeing the four curiously. If no one objects, she will take the time to ritually cast detect magic.
“Well, least they’re not dead...” Kaemgen says. “The horse seems fine. I’ll wait for you to do your thing, Sael, but I’m of a mind to wander over and see what’s what.”
"This reeks of foul play," Vorkaz says bringing his blade up. "I'll scout around to the side." He will attempt to sneak around the camp and watch for anything else. Stealth - 11 and perception - 14

Alyyja takes a step as if to follow Vorkaz before stopping and wondering if it is a good idea that she, the bearer of the vial, split off in such a manner. She ponders this for but a moment before shrugging out of her pack and continuing to follow realizing she is likely of the more stealthy among us. Rather than preparing a weapon she instead slips her viol from its case quietly prepping it as she catches up to Vorkaz.
Vorkaz, you creep closer to the camp, feeling fairly certain that nothing is watching you. As you approach, you get a better view of the unconscious humans. They are free of any physical injuries and are breathing steadily, but look pale and are sweating despite the cool night air setting in.
Alyyja, you follow after Vorkaz, also confident in your stealth until a branch cracks rather loudly under your feet. You see the horse snap its head in your direction, but otherwise, nothing happens.
"Looks like sickness has taken them. I do not know the disease from here though. Mayhap we should continue on a little ways to avoid whatever caused this."
Not attempting to silence himself at all, the Goliath sighs lightly as the others try so desperately yo be quiet. Stepping forward with the noisy clink of chainmail and into view he inhales deeply before calling out "OYE! THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU LOT?!" Having no interest in pitter pattering around and not seeing these weak looking things as a threat even if there is something wrong.

Upon Ianric's shouting, one of the merchants groans and rolls over, then moments later, opens bleary eyes and pushes herself to sit. "What the hell just..." she starts muttering to herself before noticing the three strange figures standing a few yards from the camp. Visibly jumping with surprise, she scrambles over to the armored woman and begins frantically shaking her shoulder. "Anne? Anne! Wake up!" Anne begins to stir as well, but doesn't wake just yet.

"Well that's decided then," Kaemgen says and follows the one called Bearhug.
Vorkaz lowers his blade, still keeping it at the ready, and motions for Bearhug to lead on. (Perception if needed 9)

Kaemgen, you manage to find a small rock and throw it at the nearest merchant, striking him in the shoulder. He stirs in his sleep but does not wake.
Sael, your ritual casting will take a few minutes. We'll get to your results after others state what they're doing during that time.
