I'm reopening this thread to recruit two more players. We had a player that had to leave the campaign and noticed that just three players feels too few.
Useful info:
- the campaign runs in Faerûn (Forgotten Realms)
- the characters recently arrived in Selpt, a small village where everyone has a cat (you can read the IC thread following the link in my signature)
Please post a message here if you want to join, including a reason for your character to be in Selpt. I will prioritize those who have already posted a character here.
Hi, I'd love the chance to play Luther Greylock, my half-orc fighter (Dex based, aiming to be an arcane archer (pun not intended)).
Recently demobbed from the Neverwinter military under a cloud of mistaken insubordination, Luther is convinced that his skills can still help people in need. Using a lead from his last remaining army friend, Luther heads to Selp with only the vague advice 'You will find the job when you get there'

I can commit to one post per day minimum, no problem.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I would like to repurpose Thariv, a warlock (Fathomless patron) that was involved in a short-lived campaign here that fizzled out. Right now, he does use the Mark of Storm from Eberron (although he was not based in taht world), but other than that is a standard half-elf. I am open to changing that feature if you'd like.

Here's his backstory:
Thariv Lysander comes from a long line of bold merchant sailors. His family is part of a large noble house that has long ruled the sea lanes, using their arcane powers to control weather to speed their shipments (and hamper those of their rivals). As long as he can remember, Thariv was aboard sailing ships, visiting far-flung ports, excited to learn about the vast world. His focus was always on the family business and while not a cruel or evil person, he could be ruthless in competition with rival sailors and merchants. He lived for his work.
In recent years, though, the house's power has waned, with several other smaller houses forming a naval alliance in order to break Thariv's family's control of the seas. A short time ago, his ship was attacked by the new alliance, who used all sorts of magical lightning, thunder, wind, fire, explosions, etc. to drive the vessel into a reef during a storm. The ship was torn and shattered upon the reef, and everyone aboard the ship was lost to the sea forever. All except for one...
Thariv regained consciousness and realized he was underwater, breathing and somehow alive, though he was battered, bruised and bloodied. His raw, scraped hands clung to the vast reef, and a weird watery voice whispered inside his head. "You have been chosen. Chosen to serve us. We are Oystaruss. We have saved your life, and we can take it away." Though no more words were spoken, Thariv suddenly and instinctively knew that while near death he had made a pact with this creature, this alien intelligence that had formed itself out of the entire ecosystem of the vast stretch of coral, creating some sort of sentient reef. He also knew that it had its own mysterious purposes and that it had infused him with power.
"Will you serve us or will you choose death?" it asked. The answer was obvious. Not only would he serve the reef, but he would work to get revenge upon those who destroyed his ship and its crew. If he needed to bide his time and work for and with Oystaruss, so be it. He would grow in power and eventually reclaim the sea for his family.
The waters around him suddenly surged and a powerful wave picked him up and carried him to shore. He realized the whole time he had been holding a chunk of red coral in his hand, and he could sense it was his connection to the reef. He pocketed it and staggered toward a nearby village. There, with the few remaining coins he had on him, he was able to buy some gear. He now finds himself very far from home, with newfound powers and a mysterious patron who is gently but inexorably pushing him toward unknown adventures. He has heard news that his family fleet has been virtually destroyed, the house in tatters. He knows he must lie low, follow the reef's calling and seek adventure.
He soon finds himself joining up with others on a most unusual adventure.
Edit: Point Buy it is! And I can definitely post daily.
Praise the dice! :D
