(definitely did not see the post with Blossoms arrival, lol. Whoops.)
Ufeza looks quizzically at Xephyra before slowly to the opposite end of the table from the empty chair, where Blossoms is sitting. Laughter builds which he holds in check.
"He spoke as quietly as he arrived, my friend. Many would have missed him. But as we are all gathered, perhaps it is time to delve the forest and find what is going on?"
The boy smiles at Ufeza and gladly takes the silver coin "wow, thanks. If you ever need a message delivered you can find me two houses down from the temple." And quietly scampers away.
The newly renamed Dragon purrs happily and chews the piece of ham that Ufeza gave him under the table.
Finishing your lunch, you gather your possesions and start the trek into the forest, trying to make sense of the journal Bonewits gave you. The clouds continue to gather over the trees, but the rain does not pour. Finding a place under a willow you set camp to pass the night, which passes without trouble, very few animals are moving near these parts. Rain starts as you are breaking camp the next morning. Deathfang and Truffles try to move quickly from tree to tree, while Dragon keeps pacing forward ignoring the water.
Just as you feel like the forest is trying to swallow you whole, many tents come into view through the trees. Several tents are anchored at the bases of larger trees, while more are suspended into the larger branches near the floor of the forest. The smell of hearth fires calls to you. In the continuous rainfall, their promise of warmth draws you into the small settlement.
Several elven archers peer down at you along the shaft of arrows drawn and pointed your direction. As you approach, an older elf woman stands up near a large central bonfire and waves her hands at the guards: “Lower your bows. Can’t you see these are goodly folk? These aren’t the creatures that have had us on the run these past weeks.”
Luther holds his hands out to his sides, one open and the other holding his bow. Moving slowly forward he says "Thank you, we are indeed here in peace. We are seeking the source of the great evil that is creeping across the land, and to destroy it at its source"
Zephyra gives a visible blush at seeing Blossom sitting right there at the other end of the table and then an apologetic grin to him as the others continue to speak. She gives in to a little bit of laughter and a nod to Ufeza to feel free to do the same. "I've seen cats do that in the wild. Become perfectly still and disappear to other creatures because of their lack of movement and wondered why other animals fall for it. I think now I know. And in a Tavern, right at the table, Selune teaches me humility daily. My apologies Blossom. I meant no disrespect."
Later in the forest...
Zephyra looks over to Dragon and calls her quickly to her, using her original name if necessary, scooping her up and tucking her into her cloak lest she be confused for something sinister.
Then standing, speaks. "A man named Bonewits shared his journals with us hoping we could help. It sounds as if we might seek the same solution as you?" Holding Dragon close if she's willing, "My cat was possibly a side effect of the happenings, but is much the same self as she was in life now. Previously owned by a girl who fell victim to whatever is happening here. Would you let us join you a moment and perhaps we could each exchange information?" Not wishing to appear conciliatory and causing concern on their behalf.

Thariv holds up two empty hands at the sight of the elven archers. "Greetings, m'lady," he says with a smile when she calls them off. He nods at the others' explanation of their mission and does his best to look non-threatening as he looks about for signs of anything untoward.
Blossom makes no obvious movements as the bows are drawn, but those looking closer would note his muscles tensed like coiled springs. He eyes the nocked arrows intensely, as if planning to catch them, should they be fired. He relaxes though as the older elf speaks and then crosses his arms, attempting to look like 'the muscle'.
The elven woman approaches you swiftly and calmly, taking a quick look at Dragon "undoubtedly there is a connection here, but even if she is friendly to you I would keep her out of sight for now. Some of my people have been on edge for weeks and may react poorly."
She offers to bring you back to one of the larger tents encircling the fire and offers everyone a hot cup of tea and some warm food. "No doubt you are either here to help us. Or, if not, your reasons for being here align with ours. My name is Nanny Phrex’dia and I'm leading what remains of my people. Please, make yourselves comfortable. I will endeavor to recall the details of our ancestral home so that you might wonder at its beauty and seek it with us.”
Ufeza graciously accepts the offer of tea and food. Feeling a sense of ritual and formality in her words, he attempts to match the gravity with his own, "It would be an honor to hear your recollection, and even to carry them on to others to share in the seeking."
Zephyra nods at the suggestion and keeping Dragon close, accepts the hospitality taking a position at the edge of the group, closest to the exit but not too obviously so. "I am Zephyra and I appreciate your warning. I am a Druid and healer eager to put an end to the corruption that we've seen evidence of as far as the town, though at peace for the moment. It seems we may be of mutual benefit."
Thariv nods and even tries a somewhat gracious bow to the elven elder, though he is not well-versed in such formalities. He too readily joins the others to partake of food and tea, which certainly will make a pleasant change of pace from trail rations. "Thank you very much,"he says. "As our companion says, we have seen the corruption of everyday people turned into horrible undead things and wish to end this scourge. If this helps cleanse your home, so much the better for all of us."
Nanny Phrex’dia nods at Zephyra and replies to her in druidic "it's nice to find and initiate from a different circle, I hope we can find some time to share knowledge afterwads."
She takes a sip of tea and switches back to common to address the group "our ancestral home was located beneath the grandfather tree in the forest. We lived there for generations untin somewthing twisted its nature, forcing us to flee. I suspect an evil spirit is responsible, and it must be powerful indeed to be able to corrupt the Hearth of the Gulthias in such a way that it turned on us. The corruption started on the deep roots, that is why our people now makes tents up in the branches of other trees."
Zephyra smiles at the courtesy and replies in Druidic, "I look forward to it."
She reverts back to common for the remainder of the conversation. "Do you know of Bonewits? He gave us his journal to study, we haven't had a lot of time to review it but perhaps between the journal and what you know we could piece together a solution?"
Luther produces Bonewits' journal from a pouch and hands it to Nanny Phrex'dia "He implored us to find the tree at the centre of the corruption and destroy it"
(I don't think anyone declared taking it, so I took the liberty lol)
Zephyra looks hopeful as Luther passes the Journal to Nanny. "Perhaps something in there will add to your knowledge? It seems we will need to go in of course and with your permission. Any suggestions on how to deal with the dangers within?"
Nanny Phrex’dia takes the journal and carefully opens it "I remember Bonewits, he had the most curious mind I have seen in a child. It sure is nice to see that he grew up to a life of learning." As she passes the pages she continues talking "the corruption on the great tree is something we have never seen before. And it's spreading to the creatures in the forest, making the normally peaceful creatures become aggressive and cunning hunters. Almost as if a higher intelligence was directing their actions. We long for the day the tree is released from this evil and to return to our ancestral home."
She stops perusing the notebook near its end "I see that you have some instructions on how to find the tree. Let me tell you how to find it in less time and access the undercity beneath." Her instructions are clear and easy to remember, making you feel confident in your mission.
You sit quietly listening to Nanny Phrex’dia’ s voice as she describes the sublime peace offered by the giant trees in the forest. But, in the middle of her description, she stops speaking abruptly. All of you feel the urgency and panic in her stance as you see the guards in the branches overhead expertly moving as a unit toward one side of the encampment. Nanny quickly assists a few of the other elves in dousing campfires and picking up improvised weapons. Something approaches.
As the moods shift within the camp, Zephyra reaches for her weapons and becomes alert for any dangers. Using druidcraft to assist in snuffing out the furthest fires from the dousers. Then if time allows will cast [spell]guidance[spell] are her nearest party-mate (whomever says they accept it first? With DM permission for time)
Luther stands alert to the activity within the camp. Concerned that the defenders seem to be directing all their attention to one side of the camp, he keeps a keen eye on the opposite flank. If possible, he will also climb a tree to add some elevation.

As the camp goes into motion, clearly in response to some sort of threat, Thariv stands. He quickly reaches into his pocket for the coral that serves as the conduit for his powers. For the moment, he stays where he is, his eyes scanning for clear signs of the danger, his ears open to the sounds of the forest.
