Tarak 20, Zook 16, Morrigan 15, Markus 10, Sydril 9, Kip 9, Guardian Portrait (AC5, HP18) 9,Camilla Under Wraps 7
Morrigan smacks that portrait, slamming it for 4 bludgeoning damage and dispersing poison at it...that seems to have little effect as the paint doesn't seem to breathe.
Portrait DEX Save: 10
The acid burns across the front of the portrait. The figure inside silently screams, turning its eyes to Zook and pointing. Kip's head does its best Chucky impersonation as he slowly turns toward Zook.
Tarak really doesn't like art. Combat has ended.......and the party has LEVELED UP!
The magical crown on Kip's head fades away as he comes back to his senses, looking meekly at Zook...is that still a hint of murder in his eyes toward the gnome? Nah, that's just how everyone looks at Zook.
"Not a problem, little one," the half-orc smiles a toothy grin at the halfling. "I would rather fight a painting than have to deal with battling you. Your skill with that crossbow is impressive, and I suspect you'd dodge most of my efforts to hit you with this," he finishes, patting his huge double-bladed broad axe.
As Zook's mage hand pulls books off the shelf, something clatters to the floor. Another key...but this one is platinum. What other secrets does this strange room hold?

For all intents and purposes, this room appears to be a laboratory. As Zook discerned earlier, the painting is likely one of the famed Tempest Mage, whose name has been lost to time, though, the gnome has believes might have been Friedrich. On the laboratory counter, the group finds it is covered with alchemical supplies, empty vials and what appears to be a key mold. Four vials contain a red solution (Arcana check), four vials contain a green solution (Arcana check), two vials contain a blue solution (Arcana check), two are potions of healing and one contains a black oily substance (Arcana check).
On the desk has a pair of books and numerous parchments upon it. Flipping through the books, the first appears to be a journal, logging the experiments and results undertaken in this laboratory...possibly it would be worth about 20 gold to someone with an interest in alchemy. The other book is titled, "Davey Sprockett's Guide to Alchemy for Dummies." There is also a magnifying glass and two silver candlestick holders, together worth about 50 gold.
The desk also has 5 drawers, which inside you find two odd crystals and a small parchment with instructions upon it (Arcana check), an obsidian orb (arcane focus) worth 50 gold, and a COPPER key. In addition there is a small, grease-covered book that has details about the Clockwork Column and its numerous keys (Reading 10 minutes provides advantage on all checks, saves concerning the column). Also found in the desk is a small chest with a block of platinum worth 200 gold, a small tome encrusted with precious gems worth 50 gold, which contains ramblings about the various elemental planes.
There is a cauldron filled with an odd green liquid.
There is an empty cage, with only rotten straw and a skeleton of a lizard-like creature (Oh, poor Tempest Mage Poopy!).
Inspection of the shredded Tempest Mage portrait, reveals another SILVER key hidden in the frame.
The other four paintings in the room are a set, each one of a different elemental plane: air, earth, fire, and water. Each painting is worth 100 gp to a collector.

The instructions detail how the crystals can be used in some sort of arcane machine to allow someone to remain "in stasis" for centuries at the expense of draining others' life forces.

"Uh, excuse me? That's my line?" Camilla declares comically. "How is everyone feeling? Rest time? Heals?"
“I could use a pick me up.” (Unless we’re using diablo rules and get all hp and spell slots on a level up)
