Alright, if we’re just going to ignore the way that spells work and call creatures that aren’t affected by the magic but who are nearby to stuff that is affected still “creatures affected by the spell” then this thread really is off the rails.
I agree, it would be difficult to say that an invisible creature that has possessions outlined in light isn't in some way an "affected creature". We read about "the way that spells work" both in RAW and within the spells' descriptions. I've brought the spell description for invisibility into the discussion and stated my view of likely RAI.
I'd say that was RAW that may be off the rails within its presentation of seemingly contradictory content.
