I have just completed re-writing a version of the D&D SRD5 (5th Edition SRD) in Markdown format from the official PDF. This is NOT a simple conversion like many sites have done leaving all the conversion errors within un-edited, this is a complete paragraph-by-paragraph edit of the entire 5E SRD.
I have created this conversion specifically for those wishing to utilize the text in their own RPG publications per the OGL. There are many free or inexpensive Markdown editors available to convert from Markdown to Word if need-be.
The most recent, up-to-date version, of this document is posted at ... https://srd.wiki
This is amazing. I have been wanting to tweak the core rules for weeks but didn't have a good starting point. Thank you so much for this. Are you going to create more text files for other material?
System Reference Document (SRD) contains guidelines for publishing content under the Open Game License (OGL). This document separates what is "open source gaming" from what is Intellectual Property owned by the publisher, see OGL for specifics on the use of the SRD. Basically, whatever is written in the SRD, individuals or companies may use - verbatim if needed - in their own published gaming material.
The D&D Beyond website references the SRD, but it does not directly publish it here, the Basic Rules, however, contain nearly all the SRD material.
The BR does not come close to the SRD, and vice versa. There's plenty of overlap, but 'nearly all' just isn't accurate.
edit: and to quantify my statement at a quick glance, the BR is missing the following that are in the SRD: 157 monsters, 222 magic items, 193 spells, 8 traps, 3 diseases, 15 poisons, 5 races, 7 classes, and 1 feat.

This link seems to be dead now.
I'd really love to find an up to date 5e rulebook in markdown so that I can use it in obsidian.md.
If anyone knows where I could find this, please let me know!
Nevermind I found the new link. And it's already been edited to work better with obsidian! Amazing!

Is this remastered version of the 5E SRD just modified format or content changes as well?
What does is the meaning of 'SRD'? I cannot find any source material with a title that abbreviates to SRD.
"This section contains the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Rules and the rules in the SRD, released as part of the Open Gaming License."
Nowhere is SRD explained.

Thanks! Couldn't find any reference to the acronym.
Also noted that 'EE' originally meant Elemental Evil, but actually references "Princes of the Apocalypse."

Ah, I stand corrected. I wasn't aware the BR and SRD were so far apart. Thanks!
