I've never read anything on druids, just sorcerers, warlocks and wizards. They are alike in so many ways that's probably why I'm getting confused. I also remember a list of things your familiar can assume the form of that included a flying sword, I can't find that reference again either.
Artificer too apparently, double check the homonculus infusion. You chose its shape, that's where you got the flying sword bit(I think the wording is test tube but go nuts). Just get any artifice to make you one or level dip

A homunculus servant is similar to a familiar but not really the same. It's a construct with a flight speed that you can choose the form of (I'm picking a beetle for mine), you heal it via Mending, you can't see through its eyes, and you have to use your bonus action to command it to attack or take any action beyond Dodge. You can use it to deliver a Touch spell like with a familiar.
You'd also need a 2-level Artificer dip in order to have access to Infusions to be able to have one, plus you need a 100gp gem or crystal for its "heart". It's not something you're able to make and then give to someone else to command and use to deliver spells. If you want to give someone a familiar you're better off finding a Ring of Spell Storing and a Wizard who'll cast find familiar into the ring.
