Why does DNDBeyond give my 1st level sorcerer 15 HP (+3 con bonus). I think it should be 9 (1d6 max of 6 + 3). I feel like I have seen this before, but not consistently.
Hmm, I can't replicate it. If you click on "manage HP" on that edit page, does it have an override? Should say "6", "-", "-" if everything is normal, with 9 total at the top.
No, I was just able to duplicate the effect. It seems to be related to clicking Manual for HP on the initial screen. I have played around with this a bit and haven't figured out the pattern but frequently this seems to result in the wrong maximum HP after character class is selected.
My players have reported many problems when leveling up and trying to add hit points if they roll manually (not sure if they also have problems when they take the default average value -- I don't play, only GM, so I am not sure how it works for a player).

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
For manual HP you need to not add CON to the roll (it does that for you). And I know it automatically removes the die average when you level down, which could be more or less than you add that level.

Its hard to say unless you post a link to your character page.
You might find some clues on the class edit page at the top where the HP calc is.
Here's the link

The class edit page says Hit Points at 1st Level: 6 + your Constitution modifier, so should be 9

OK. I'm not replicating it either. I have no idea how it came to pass, but it seems to be a mistake and not some rule I am overlooking. Thanks
Did you by chance flip around to a different classes when you created the character that had the problem?

Automatic HP works fine.
