So i was looking at Eldritch adept to see if a character that obtained eldritch blast from a Non-Warlock source (magic initiate for human variant or something else) could take Eldritch adept at level 4 for agonizing blast. but then I noticed this line:
"If the invocation has a prerequisite of any kind, you can choose that invocation only if you're a warlock who meets the prerequisite."
And agonizing blast has the prerequisite "Eldritch Blast" Which the character WOULD meet, but the bolded lines above seem to rule that out.
I'm like 99% sure I know this wouldn't be allowed (because of the bolded lines), but idk if I'm missing anything?
I agree, I feel that it's the intent of the feat to not allow these kind of combos. I think Eldritch Blast is probably the specific feature they want to keep as something that is exclusively available to Warlocks, since it's kind of deliberately over-powered compared to other cantrips (when modified with invocations) because it plays well with the class.
This is what I was thinking too. I was thinking it could easy be exploitable by being able to make a Sorlock (for spamming quickened EB) without having to take a lock level dip. Glad to see it can't!

A sorlock benefits greatly from slots that recover on a short rest anyway (it is better than their 20th level feature with a 3 level dip...).
The difference between a 1 level warlock dip and a 2 or 3 level warlock dip is pretty significant. Sure you miss out on other stuff but those dip levels reduce sorcerer spell casting and sorcery points, those dip levels aren't any cheaper than the great.

3 levels of warlock gets sorcerers 4 sorcery points per short rest (their level 20 feature). Which more than makes up for the 3 sorcery points they lost.
It is pretty much just highest spellcasting level that suffers. But agonizing blast stays pretty competitive with leveled spells, especially when quickened. And the most used utility spells are low level, so even this is minor.
