For future reference, Booming Blade works just fine with a dual wielding Bladesinger Wizard because they can use a Cantrip instead of one of their attacks at level 6. The character I'm currently playing sounds similar to your concept, and has been a lot of fun. It's interesting to see how many spells are compatible with dual wielding, when that is the focus.
I started with Rogue One, then alternated between F and R. I didn’t really look at what the benefits were too much. It just seemed to make sense that since he was both the scout and the melee guy, he’d go up evenly in both. I do think I took EK3 before AT3. That got me Find Familiar, Mage Armor and Shield, and I ditched my leather. My current melee weapons are a +2 shortsword, +2 dagger and +1 shortsword. He just got the +1 short sword. He needs to identify and has to attune to it, so hopefully it has some nifty features. He’s expert in Stealth and Perception. His reaction spells are Shield, Absorb Elements and Feather Fall. Uncanny Dodge and an extra sneak attack die would be nice, but the Extra Attack would be more impactful. Getting W1 would be fun and give him more slots and more versatility. After reading everyone’s comments, I’m leaning toward focusing on EK for a while. Extra Attack, ASI and War Magic/2nd level spells are tempting. That would allow me to take Darkness, and I could take the Devil’s Sight Invocation. Lots of options.
I assume you mean through the Eldritch Adept feat. Yeah, it is very strong. However, as effective as Darkness + Devil's Sight is, it is notorious for pissing off other party members because they're forced to attack at disadvantage as well and can't focus on the targets within or through your darkness. Of course, if you're soloing your own enemy while the party handles other threats, that works out great but yeah. Learn to know when to use it would be my best advice.
I darkness and devil's sight works best on ranged characters. You stay in the darkness away from everyone else so you do not debuff the rest of the party. For melee it is situational, even if you try to fight one bad guy while the others take on the rest, your enemy would be very likely to disengage and run to where everyone else is.

Unless you threaten to punish hard through something like War Caster + BB or use Sentinel to lock the enemy in place with you but yeah, I agree that it is much more effective on a ranged character. Much less annoying for fellow party members too.
Yeah, the Darkness/Devil's sight thing is pretty niche. Devil's Sight would be useful for getting ranged Sneak Attack under normal darkness. Truth be told, the EK's second level spell list (Abjr and Evoc) is underwhelming. The AT's list is much more interesting, especially since the DM let me swap from Enchantment to Transmutation.

You do get a second "school-free" spell at EK 8 and you already have one now that you picked up along with the class features at EK3. You can swap one spell every level you get in the class, including that one.
You could get a few interesting things such as Blur to force disadvantage against you, Mirror Image to make shadow clones of yourself which is also concentration-less, those two are the big standouts IMO.
Invisibility could be good though that's not great to keep attention on yourself if you're tanking. The previously-mentioned Misty Step which is amazing on any character. You can also consider See Invisibility if your party does not already have a way of dealing with them and/or you know its going to come up.
If you don't want utility, you can also increase your damage ouput with Shadow Blade in your mainhand to 2d8 now and eventually 3d8 with 3rd lvl slots.
Then there are some niche but decent options that may be alright for flavor but not really worth it in your case due to your limited school free spells such as Web, Spider Climb or you could see if the DM let's you cast Dragon's Breath on your familiar and get to use a bonus action to trigger it for easy aoe damage.Flock of Familiars can be flavorful and useful for a scouting operation, Levitate is an amazing disable spell on melee enemies if you know they have weak CON saves or can be used as utility if needed.
You've also got Warding Wind in Evocation which is pretty useful for a front line fighter to have and defend his party slowing down threats and forcing disadvantage on ranged weapon attacks. Scorching Ray for a long ranged powerful option and Shatter for a decent AoE option. Obviously you are more limited but there are a few really good options as well.
Edit: FYI, in the case of Dragon's Breath, there is Sage Advice confirming it is possible to use it with your Familiar.
