I've been experimenting with using D&D Beyond, but I have a few questions I was hoping to get some guidance with. Right now I haven't purchased anything, but I was able to make a campaign and have 3 players join and make characters. Am I right in assuming that they'll be able to make SRD characters, and level up and enjoy all the content in the SRD without additional cost?
I've been considering (re)buying the sourcebooks on https://100001****/ D&D Beyond, and also scooping up the artificer class so one of my player's can make an artificer PC. This is where things get a little confusing to me. If I buy the Artificer class (or rather, the subclasses associated with the Artificer), can a player in my campaign https://1921681254.mx/ make an artificer PC, or I will have to get the master tier to share that with my players? What if I create an artificer character sheet -- could I share / assign that sheet to a player without the Master Tier? Could I also just share my account with my player if I'm comfortable with that, and have him level it up / manage it on his end?
In order for content from purchases to be shared among players in a campaign, someone in that campaign needs to have a Master subscription and enable Content Sharing. It doesn't have to be the DM. But only the DM has access to a separate screen where they can manage which books specifically are shared among the group. For example, if they're running one of the published campaigns like Princes Of The Apocalypse, they could choose to disable sharing of that book so the players can't read ahead in the story. BUT, even if the DM disables a book from sharing, players who own that book will still have access to their own copy.
I don't know if you can create a character in the campaign, unassign it, then let another player take possession, if that player will have access to character options they don't own. Master subscriptions aren't terribly expensive, and make sharing content much more straightforward.

This will sort of work -- the player will have access to all the features you assigned the character, but will lose anything if they remove it from the character (eg, swapping out a spell that they don't have access to, but if you're only using SRD content this might be less of an issue) and I don't believe they'll be able to level up correctly. But if you're fine with taking the character back to perform level up, it's doable.
You can try purchasing it, creating a homebrew subclass that has no changes, and having the player pick that. Homebrew is shared in a campaign without having to be published (which you wouldn't be allowed to do with a straight up copy, but is OK to do for this specific in-campaign use here) so I think the player would be able to choose it to use for their character. Alternately, the player can purchase the specific subclass they want from Tasha's, for $1.99.
The above (especially showing that the player can buy the subclass for a coffee's cost) is certainly all accurate. If you're planning on D&D-ing a fair bit, however, having one member of your usual group get a Master tier is WELL worth it. Our group has that and we all buy different stuff here and there, so I can content share (I buy the master tier) and we have a wonderful array of options available at all times (well, in our campaigns, at least) I own a fair bit of content myself on DDB but I see a difference making a character from scratch and making one in a campaign my fellow players/DM's are in.
Some folks say it's not worth it, but to me, it is WELL worth it and I feel I get excellent value for it. The ease and convenience is hard to ignore.
