Right now im using 2 handed fighting style.. Ok question is can i have short sword and club (shillelagh) and still have the Bow equipped? I kind of want to be a hit and run and when needed from a far.. any feed back would be great.. Working toward beast master

You can certainly have a bow with you, but you can't actually use all those weapons at the same time unless you have four arms. (This is not a joke; there is a playable species that has four arms and can do this.)

The problem there is with the Shillelagh, because that ends if you stop holding the club. Thus every time you switch to your bow you'll need to recast Shillelagh which is going to eat up a lot of bonus actions. If you intend to use Hunter's Mark as well then chances are you'll have almost no bonus actions left to make attacks with for your two-weapon fighting.
we have 2 pallys and a cleric..... but i did switch some things up got to lvl 3 and added beast master. so im going to run this set up till lvl5 and might swap things around
1) Equipped doesn’t mean in-hand it means available to grab and use so yes you can have the bow equipped while initially wielding the short sword and club. ( actually you would probably have the bow in hand for ranged fire then switch to the sword and club when entering melee) by the game rules two weapon fighting with a sword/ scimitar and a quarterstaff is ok. However, if you’re playing 2024 rules you are probably better off with two light swords saving the staff for when you actually need a magic weapon. Why? Because you will almost certainly do more damage. sword and shillelagh: round one: bonus action cast shillelagh, attack with sword average damage (assuming unrealistically that all attacks hit to keep the math easy) = 3.5+ stat bonus round 2+: attack with short sword gaining vex advantage on next attack then bonus action attack with staff (d8) : average damage 3.5 +4.5+ stat bonus -> 8 damage + stat bonus
short sword and scimitar: every round: short sword + scimitar in attack action ( Nick) 3.5+3.5 = 7 +stat bonus + short sword bonus action attack for 3.5 damage : total: 10.5+ stat bonus. this also allows you to use that bonus action for spells like hunters mark.
using shillelagh and hunters mark you want to cast hunters mark first for the extra damage in rounds 1&2 casting shillelagh in round 2 and finally getting 2 attacks in round 3.
What are the best spells for a Ranger at early levels?
With 2024 you auto get hunters mark, after that the first 2 L1 spells I take are zephyr strike and goodberry.. at L2 spells the first I take is pass without trace, after that it’s a bit of crap shoot based on the characters needs and the game environment. Darkvision is good if you don’t have and most of the party does, magic weapon is good if you don’t have any and need it regularly, silence is golden if your frequently dealing with casters, spiked growth is a great area control spell with shenanigans the party can pull using it, summon beast gives you an effective extra attack that grows with upcasting as you level up.

pronouns: he/she/they
Thri-kreen raises all four hands. Lol
But yes, you are right. While you can have them all equipped you can only normally have one two-handed weapon or two one handed weapons/a shield.

I love Thri-kreen, and I'm just saying, a Thri-kreen ranger would be RAD. BTW, thri-kreen are found in the astral adventurers guide
DM: He doesn't have much besides the skin on his bones.
Me: I'll take the skin on his bones, then.
Also, this is for Redwall nerds: Eeeeeuuuuulllllllaaaaaaaalllllllliiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
