That only matters if you put an emphasis on numbers. If you want to play a brute werebear, then go for it. This class will handle that just fine.
For Lycan specifically, with the way a lot of the INT-based features are worded, granting a minimum 1 even if your INT mod is negative meaning no additional benefit unless INT is 14+, you can effectively dump INT to 8 with little issue on that front and just take curses that don't rely on saving throws. You can get something like 16/14/14/8/12/10 out the gate with V.Human on Standard Array which isn't too shabby and play up a more survivalist type. Plus, the features Hybrid Transformation grants are a natural fit for a grappling build, so you can use the bonus feat for Prodigy or the UA Brawny feat if your DM allows it. It does completely destroy any ability to multiclass, however.
