I am new to this game, and I like to brag to the NPCs about my adventures and creatures I have defeated. However, my group's druid is strongly against this. I wanted to tell people about all the creatures that my character had defeated, because... it makes me sound awesome. However, my character was literally locked up in an inn by my group's druid because of this! It was not very fun.
Right now we are fighting a Dragon, and if we survive, and defeat the dragon, I want to tell the entire town about our awesome adventure and how we killed the dragon. But my group's druid is strongly against this and has even threatened to kill my character. Do you guys have any tips on whether I should tell NPCs about my adventures? My groups main concern is that we are going to have our treasure stolen but is that really going to be a problem?
If you are a bard, telling about your adventures is your thing. Doing it as downtime activity also can allow to raise money and reputation.
I agree if you were a bard but on the other case, bragging could also lead to you becoming a target to others for if you were to brag of your riches but if it were to be about your adventures I feel it would yes raise your reputation.
Be true to your character and brag all you want. Your DM might take advantage of that aspect and weave it into the campaign and do something like the other characters fear, in which case you have an all-new adventure to recover your treasure and maybe your character learns "from life" (like most of us have to) instead of obeying someone else's rules about things.
Thank you very much. Also, concerning people stealing my character's treasure, I highly doubt that anyone wants to steal from someone who can flipping kill dragons.
I am more curious as to why the Druid doesn't want to you brag about it? Also how were you "locked in" at the inn? Sounds like something minor that you can just escape anyway.
Is the Druid player's actions in game making the game less fun for the rest involved? This seems like something that could upset some groups. Particularly the threat of killing your character.
If it is problematic, I recommend talking to the DM and the player. DnD is more fun when you're not trapped in a room.

If you love a character, you give them pain, ruin their lives, make them suffer. Maybe even throw in a heroic death.
If your character would boast, then boast. There are many characters that I would not only expect to boast, but practically demand it.
Imagine a proud fighter or barbarian telling of the mighty beasts they have slain. A dashing rogue charming a pretty face with his daring tales of daring and courage. A sage trying to convince others on a topic by quoting first hand experience. And the aforementioned bard, particularly one of the College of Valor who specializes in telling stories of triumph.
What is the druid's motive? They may dislike what they may perceive as arrogance, but threatening to kill you seems over the top within the context you've presented.
And finally, as has been said - if your group can kill a dragon, then I doubt they should worry over thieves. Go and fight the thieves, take THEIR loot and then boast about that as well!
First of all, if your fellow PC's are threatening to kill your player, maybe you should talk to them on the side. I think that once everyone understands each other's views, everything will turn out just fine. I personally had this problem with a paladin in my group. He would always brag about how much gold we had. He was practically asking to get mugged! All in all, a little friendly debating is just what will do the trick.
I agree. My character was able to escape after everyone had left. But then the druid yelled at me and told me to go back to my room. Obviously I did not listen. No door can hold me back!! Haha!!
Always be true to your character. That sounds like a rather interesting trait to have a player, and I think it would be interesting to play with someone like that, who brags or even embellishes their stories because they are just full of themselves. If you talk to them outside of the game, and say that's just how your character is, they should be okay with it, unless the druid is a sociopath and would kill someone for bragging, in which case your traits are going to come into conflict and you'll have to find a resolution. Either way, it should be interesting.

If you are locked in an inn again, check to see if you can sing out a window to any passerby in the area. The druid cannot stop the music!!!

This is not the wisest move as everyone else would probably get mad at you because they seem to probably be the more sensible ones.
