So we did some reconnoitering and discovered that the Madame is the illegitimate daughter of a powerful noble in the kingdom. We don't know which noble, but it's a Duke. Probably in line for the throne. We're still trying to find his identity. She has no ties to the Thieves Guild and they want a piece of the casino/ brothel action, but she has the nobles in her corner so the Thieves are cut out of the take. There is a severe depression going on in this kingdom, so being cut out of a racket where the nobles come to spend their money is very frustrating for them.
I'm approaching them with a percentage partnership deal if they back my takeover. I plan to find all the dirt I can on her family line and frame her for extorting them with help from my Forger. I will be using disguise self to make myself into a close resemblance of her, then be seen meeting with the man who will attempt to extort the nobles for large sums of money lest their dirty secrets be made public. I'm hiring a small group of expert cutpurses while disguised as the Madame and given them makeovers. Expensive haircuts, expensive clothes, costume jewelry, and a small bankroll for gambling and girls. I'm paying them to pose as well-to-do's and pickpocket as many nobles and would-be princes as possible, and to give 10% "discreetly" to the head bouncer before they leave as tribute to the Madame. If questioned by her or the authorities, they will honestly think she hired them to do this.
We are in the process of making a list of her magical defenses and advantages, but this is not a "heavy-magic" world, despite me being a competent magic-user. That being said, it's looking doubtful that she has many magical safeguards. The casino doesn't appear to be rigged. She takes a flat percentage of all card tables, and there are only a few games of chance and they are all winner takes all bets with 10% to the house, kind of games. It keeps her insulated from accusations of cheating and from having to pay out large sums.
The rumor campaign is forthcoming, as is the recruiting of her best girls and hiding them away until the brothel is ours. We will be training them to be courtesans and entertainers for the new establishment. I will start with the nightmares and apparitions campaign shortly as well to wear her down even more, but not right away, because if too much happens all at once so soon after selling us out, she will know we're the ones trying to ruin her.
Thanks again for all of the ideas and feedback! You guys are awesome.

It's weird that the local thieves guild allowed themselves to be cut out from the action so easily. The fact that the Madam is the illigitimate daughter of a noble and she's keeping it a secret is major potential blackmail material if someone finds out who her daddy is.

Ooh, if you really want to twist the knife have your forger send her letters from this noble hinting that they regret not acknowledging her and plan to fully welcome her into the family soon, but until then it must be kept secret. Foster hope in her and watch it shrivel her when she reaches out to her parent during the whole extortion thing and her parent rebuffs her.

I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
They didn't really allow it. The nobles hired muscle to make sure they stayed cut out of it. And yes, that is the major angle we're pursuing. Finding out the identity of her family and using that against her.
