I am in a campaign, and would very much like to play a Dhampir. My Dm has no problem with this but wants to take away the humanoid portion of the race so spells that dont effect undead can't heal me but also increase the bites d4 to a d8 to compensate. They claim the race is to broken as is considering the 3rd level spider climb ability as well. I wholeheartedly disagree and believe this is hamstringing the character.
Am I crazy for not seeing it or is it just gimping the character to make it less appealing so they don't have to give a solid no.
I don't know if there's a consensus either way, but a lot of folks thought the Dhampir presented in the UA was OP, so your DM is not alone. Maybe offer a compromise that your character can only get half healing from conventional healing magic and move the bite to d6 so you're both in the middle space. You could wait a few months to see if it's revised in the Ravensloft book. Even then, it's up the DM. Frankly, while I liked the Hexblood and Reborn, the Dhampir just struck me as problematic.
The dhampir, as printed in the Gothic Lineage UA, is exceptionally powerful for certain types of characters.
A question - is your dhampir a melee combatant, someone that fights primarily in close quarters? If so, you may be able to point out to your DM that you're not generally going to be able to use the extremely powerful innate spider climb to easily escape harm. At least, not without also turning off your own damage.
If you're an archer, a shooter, or a spellcaster? Yeah, I can understand why your DM is reticent, as the innate spider climb makes you effectively immune to enemy melee combatants. Innate, always-on spider climb is only slightly less powerful than innate, always-on flight. You may want to coordinate with your team to gain access to nonmagical healing, such as via the Healer feat, and make use of that rather than relying on Healing Word spam.
Either way, this is more a discussion to have with your DM than with forum randos.
The published version will be available in mid-May, you might want to see if your DM would require you to switch to the published version no matter what adjustments are made to the UA version in order to play in your campaign. If you're going to have to at some point switch to the finalized version, then you might want to wait and have your character become a dhampir later on, in case you don't like the final version at all. UAs usually get reined in before being published, so your DM might be fine with the published version, but it might also not be to your taste. If you're negotiating with your DM over tweaking the UA version now, make sure that's not going to go out the window in two months.
Wouldn’t Dhampirs not get any healing at all because they are undead? Even if they are also humanoid, most healing spells just don’t work on undead at all (so anything with the undead tag).
Yes, the if you're both undead and humanoid lineage per the UA, you get the benefits of both (so healing magic works on you). You also presumably suffer the consequences of both, so you can be subject to Turn (and Destroy) Undead. Player community doesn't seem entirely content on this, but I think most are accepting it for party practicality sake. We'll see whether it gets revised at all when the final publication comes out.

PCs don't have a CR, so Destroy Undead wouldn't work.

Yes, PCs are irreconcilable with CR. No amount of thought from the official design team considering the full ramifications of this expansion of lineage options or community members can possibly figure a work around for this dilemma.
I would like some help with something.

Yes are undead but humanoids too, the playtest states that efects who afects both types are aplicble, so on dhampirs work heling magic.

I also make maps.(That's a link)
Dont give you Xp for certainly but turn, destroy or comand undead afect dhampirs, as healing magic has efect on them.
