Thanks for the imput! Since I first learned about lineages, I was a little confused. You made some good points here. If I were to still go with my original take on this, I would probably replace all of the original race's traits with the traits from the lineage except for the racial traits that account for physical parts of the body (such as limbs and appendages). If not, I would probably just go with the normal rules for lineages or do what DnDPaladin said below and replace all racial traits with the lineage traits except for one racial trait of your choice. For example, if I were playing a yuan-ti pureblood with the dhampir lineage, I could choose one yuan-ti racial trait to keep (which, for me, would probably be Poison Immunity or Magic Resistance) but all other yuan-ti traits would be replaced with dhampir traits. Do you think that sounds ok?
I let all players take a feat at first level, and the lineages are pretty easy to re-configure as feats. For example, the Hexblood feat would give you the Eerie Token and Hex Magic abilities, and fey type. I don't think that's out of line at all with feats like fey-touched.
In a way the Lineages as a addon makes sense I mean a Goliath Dhampir loses large frame cause being part vampire makes you smaller in their case, but in most cases they work just fine as they are.

On the other hand just imagining them as twisted and torn abominations of "real" Goliaths is kinda cool. And scary, like "look how far they have fallen"
