Yeah I wasn't trying to say it would fix that specific problem, just that it was an advantage to the feature that would be lost by just accessing more schools of magic, and is worth considering for any revision.
I have no real horse in this race (and technically the race has already finished). I didn't mean to get swept up in debating the feature, I was just curious as to how the rest of the world responded to the Survey.

You're totally fine! It was interesting, and brought up a concern I hadn't thought of. Everything like this helps us think about the UA material more critically. And there might even be another round of test material for the Bard eventually to consider.
Songs of restoration also doesnt include several defensive and buff spells that are currently on the bard spell list that you now have to magical secrets for at level 11. Including, heroism and dispel magic. Dispel magic is a big one for me, on bard. The primal spell list contains all the spells on the songs of restoration list + dispel magic and a couple others, and all of them are abjuration. This is why that primal abjuration suggestion was there, as it brings back a couple bard staples that would be gone otherwise. I am all for a "songs of" feature that allows a couple free preps. Maybe it would just let you prep an extra spell per spell level from the primal list of either the abjuration or necromancy schools. Bringing back revivify to the bard list.
I suggested: at a short or long rest, make a performance check and the result equals the amount of Temp HP that you can divide between your audience. Make Performance matter for Bards!
I wrote that I prefer the old song of rest. That ability has better flavor than adding spells and adding spells forces the build into a direction the current bard options do not require.

Another good point for Primal Abjuration.
