Granted this is niche but nets being gear and written as replacing an attack on the Attack Action and causing a Dex save kind of reduces a very specific build. Battle masters got a Quick Toss Manuever that allowed you to throw a weapon as a BA. By the special rules of net that eats up the BA but not the Action (per Sage Advice and Jeremy Crawford). So that you could then attack an restrained target. Now that blew a Battlemaster die to do. Now I can give up an attack (hopefully with extra attack at 5th level) and then attack after. But attacks based on save (especially the big 3) are worse for the player than an attack roll. You don't have to worry about the at disadvantage due greater than 5 feet or less than 5 feet with out SS or CE feats though so there is that.
This specific build was almost required to use nets but since the Attack Action is required you couldn't do the Quick Toss any more. (Granted its assuming the Battlemaster stays the same)
