I know but I have a dm who hates it understandably
I don't understand but in any event, honestly I think they'll come around - especially once the new Basic is released and people can, say, try out the new Open Hand Monk or Berserker Barbarian free of charge and see how much vastly superior they are to the 2014 versions. Especially once both of them get 1st-level feats.
I know. I hope he comes around. As a dm, he doesn’t like it bacause every single class got a huge buff
I wouldn't say that. The weaker classes got a buff. the more problematic bursty options got reduced. Look at conjure spells, paladin smites. I am expecting to see a few more high outliers be brought down.

While those examples are true, warlocks are now a problem for three reasons:
Pact boons are now eldritch invocations, so you can grab all the pacts if you want
There are more eldritch invocations
Pact Boons are now at 1st Level (again because of eldritch invocations)
Fighter is now ridiculous because of multiple uses of action surge per long rest. Barbarian’s rage has utility which I guess fixes barbarian. Monk is now actually good, and sorcerer can now cast meteor swarm with a higher save DC.
Overall, all classes got a buff, however as you say, some also got nerfed a tad

invocations are definitely a little better but taking a pact instead of a different invocation is a trade off. At level 2 you cant have 3 pacts, + AB and Repelling blast, you are going to have to pick and if you pick AB, RB and a pact there is no change, if you pick 2 pacts then you are missing out on one of the others. fighters could always get multiple action surges per long rest. Action surge has always recovered on a short rest. Barbarians being able to do things out of combat is good for the health of the game and doesn't improve their in combat abilities at all. Sorcerers were kind of weaker by comparison to other casters.
All of these classes had consistency issues and were more used for multiclassing to solve their base issues rather than enjoying the whole class. The changes were to help with that. Even with fighter, as an example, lost the ability to action surge 2 spells when you multiclassed it with a caster. This allowed the base fighter to get a little more because the problem combos were weakened.
(This said, I think the community knows there are problem OP invocations like Thirsting blade's level 11 ability, that is not lasting)
in lieu of other options, bard can count as 'none' for the time being. not that they're over-powered so much, they just have a hand in many pockets and are easy to pick on for that. also those hands is all soft and they gots all their teef and my bird keeps a'lookin their way. really, it's proving difficult to think of a reason not to.

unhappy at the way in which we lost individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

Repelling Blast is absolutely obnoxious. Having now played with a character that took it, I'll be happy to never do so again. Taking 2 pacts + AB is far better.

I play tested a Warlock with AB and no pacts because I wanted more free cast spells to fit the characters theme. It was nice.

It's a higher power level, but I prefer to think of it as "other classes getting closer to wizard."
