Currently playing a level 6 Samurai with plate armor and GWM, and Fighting Spirit is awesome, when it's in use. But compared to Barbarian and Vengeance Paladin, Fighting Spirit doesn't feel as great of a resource.
Anyone got any good suggestions on what to multiclass or any other possible tips on how to keep the Advantage incoming without burning through the minimal uses of Fighting Spirit? Was thinking of dipping into Vengeance Paladin since Vow of Enmity is so strong and Fighting Spirit can as a resource to use against non-Vowed targets but it feels like its a lengthy investment compared to other options. Any thoughts?
Since you already have good use for your bonus action, I would suggest something that doesn’t conflict with that.
You should always use Fighting Spirit alongside Action Surge and trying to find ways to give you more attacks is potentially good. If you have the stats, Gloomstalker Ranger would offer you a lot!
More attacks with Dread Ambusher that could be doubled with Action Surge. More damage with Favored Foe that do not use your precious bonus action. An additional fighting style and some spells to improve your survivability like Absorb Elements, Goodberry and Protection from Poison. Zephyr Strike is also nice to have as a backup. PLEASE, do not fall under Hunters Mark trap. Your most precious source of damage is GWM, highly optimized when paired with Fighting Spirit and Action Surge.
I was about to recommend basically the same thing Ironsoul did. You turn into an absolute wheat thresher on your first round of combat... at 9th Character level you start the first round of combat with 3 attacks... combine that with Fighting Spirit and Action Surge, and suddenly you're making 6 attacks with advantage and two extra D8's of Damage on top of anything else you can stack onto that, such as Favored Foe or Great Weapon Master.
