I am working on a Samurai subclass that is more complex and rich than the current Samurai officially on offer but I need help writing it up in such a way that it becomes functional on the character builder, ie if you pick this at level 6 tier then option 'c' and option 'd' disappear for level 9 but option 'x' and option 'y' open up. Anyone have that level skill in creating homebrew? Love to work with someone one on one.
I make armor for a living, I know, it's an odd occupation in this day and age but thanks to LoTR there is a market for my childhood fantasies. A private project going on five years now is a suit of battle grade Japanese armor, most examples are Edo or Post Edo so they are...perfect and yet...light? As a result of doing my homework I have learned quite a bit about Samurai culture and the social aspects and so on, it was never the focus but it leaks across in the search for the other information. As a result I wanted to write a class for D and D that while being fantasy as all heck, still reflects the animistic, the ancestor worship, the oni, the mysticism and the social system as a functioning part of the class.
The home brew forum might help out more than this forum. And maybe a more detailed description might help than the c/d and x/y of what you are trying to accomplish.

My DM made a simple homebrew adaptation for a Samurai as a Wisdom-based Paladin leveraging Oath of Devotion. It worked fine.
