So I made a rogue/fighter with the gunslinger subclass and I noticed that my gun got another proficiency bonus from the gunslinger subclass. So my character is adding proficiency from the long ranged weapons and again for firearms. Is that suppose to happen.
I don't believe so, you probably misread "Starting when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with firearms, allowing you to add your proficiency bonus to attacks made with firearms". You only add your proficiency bonus once
