Hi folks...to set the background...Im a first time player...I joined a campaign as Fighter and went Cavalier at 3rd cause it sounded cool and underplayed. Whelp...I never once actually hit a creature with Unwavering Mark due to crap rolls when it's my turn. We have 8 ppl in the grp, so stuff is dead within 2-3 turns. The campaign is also alot of swarm mobs so very rarely is there one big badie.
At 5th level I multi'd into Forge Cleric cause I felt it would give me more to do since the grp doesn't quite need me as a tank atm. Looking at spells and reading Sanctuary...forces creature make a wisdom saving throw on fail must attack new target...So the cheese move is...If I hit with Unwavering Mark then Sheild up Sanctuary...Could I farm Bonus Opportunity Attacks from Unwavering Mark? I guess the big con would be burning spell slots...just interesting synergy if it would work.
Unwavering Mark requires you to hit a target (using your action) then you can do Sanctuary (bonus action) . The mark only lasts until the end of your next turn. If the marked creature attacks another individual you can use you bonus action the next round to make the special attack. You would lose sanctuary at that point and since you already used your bonus action you could not cast it again that turn. If you hit you can redo the unwavering mark but again if you use the special attack you cannot do sanctuary. Seems like a one shot deal and waste of sanctuary spell.
Thx, I actually didn't realize Sanctuary was a bonus action. Ya lotta work for a not so great dmg. Guess I was excited cause I thought I found a loop hole to nearly force an opportunity attack.
