If a samurai uses the fighting spirit ability as their bonus action and then lands a critical hit with a greatsword can they still use the extra attack granted by the great weapon master feat? or is that impossible because they already used their bonus action for fighting spirit?
I guess I'm asking if the GWM feat grants a free bonus action that can only be used to make an extra weapon attack, allowing the fighter to make two bonus actions on a single turn?
I don’t think there’s any way to get a second bonus action on a turn. You can, and probably should, action surge, so you can get more use from your fighting spirit, so you can get more attacks that way. But that’s still an action, not a bonus action.

You only get one Bonus Action on your turn, I know of no ability which grants a second one.
That’s why Fighting Spirit synegize much better with Sharpshooter and Elven Accuracy instead of a classic GWM. Precision Strike from Battlemaster is more effective.

Yeah, one of these days I'm gonna build myself a Wood Elf Samurai Archer and really go to town :)
I love Wood Elf Fighters! Specially because you can afford to get the lovely Wood Elf Magic feat in order to increase your versatility and overall party contribution besides the outstanding damage from Sharpshooter.
You can leverage things like Guidance and Mending (for your arrows) and Longstrider is good spell. The hidden jewel in this feat, however, is Pass Without a Trace. It’s one of the most powerful and underrated spells ever, and I don’t know why, because it has the function to turn your entire party (even noisy heavy armor users) in a silent deadly squad, creating the perfect scenario for ambushes and surprises. If your party doesn’t have a Ranger or a Druid, a Wood Elf with this feat is outstanding.

Nope, sadly you already used your bonus action to activate Fighting Spirit; so even if you crit, your bonus action for the turn is already spent.

Hey, would you recommend taking Wood Elf Magic @ 6 or 8? It seems like a shame to pass up on EA/SS
