I have a level 5 samurai which I am wondering what to do with at level 6 and subsequent AS I / feat levels.
Ability Scores, Str 8, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 10, Wis 13, Cha 10
Variant human who took sharpshooter at 1.
I like the idea of being proficient in all the main saves so am thinking of taking resilient dex either at 6 or 8, and was thinking at split as I in Dec and wis in the other. If I did this which should I get first?
I was also thinking of durable but then it might be best to go resiliant dex at 6, ASI dex and con at 8 and durable at 12.
I was also looking at alert but presumably that would come later.
His background is as as expert with a long bow so am not thinking of crossbow expert but would welcome other ideas of what to take when.
I am not convinced that being proficient in all the main saves is mad. In the traditional sense of mad, you want the party as a whole to cover all abilities, so someone has high charisma to act as the face, someone is strong to force open a door etching but if an individual character tries to do everything they end up mediocre at everything. This mostly applies to things that the character chooses to do.
Saves are different because the the enemy choses when and what save is required. If we just consider Dex wis and con saves as they are the most common, If you are only good against one at least 2/3 of the time there is a high chane of failure, in fact an intelligrnt monster is likely to recognise a fighter and use dex and wis save spells because they expect them to be more effective.
A good comparison is to compare resiliant dex with another feat, let's say observant as you like it. If I took observant at 6, I would delay maxing my Dec until level 8 but gain in wisdom and passive perception. If I take resiliant at level 6 I gain proficiency in dex saves and have the ability to boost both Dec and wis modifiers at level 8
[feat]Mobile[/feat] for when a creature gets in your face? Take one attack with a rapier or something then run away and shoot it with arrows?
[feat]Martial Adept[/feat] to get a few maneuvers?
[feat]Ritual Caster[/feat] and grab something useful like Find Familiar. You could take Owl for the ever cheesy flyby Help actions to give you advantage even when you are not planning on using Fighting Spirit. You could also give it to a buddy if you're going to use Fighting Spirit. You'd also get another ritual spell.
Those are my thoughts for the useful feats outside of what's already been discussed.
If it were me, I like the resilient Dex, then dex + con at 8. Either that or just 2 in dex. I guess it depends on how many dex saves you're rolling.
I feel resilient isn't really great for you since you have mostly even scores, and taking resilient would uneven them. There isn't many good con boosting feats, and unevening your scores would force you to take one, or pump 1 point of wisdom, which is a waste.
I probably wouldn't go durable as you're ranged and a fighter so your hit point pool should already be sufficient and you aren't really supposed to be in melee. The Resilient Dex then adding to both Dex and Wis seems the best route to me. I would probably do the feat first since it'll give you the save bonus whereas the +1 to Dex/Wis will only improve your Wis modifier if you do that first.

This does seem like the most solid move to me. Beyond that, I'd look at boosting your Con & Wis scores on general principle, mixing in any other feats that seem interesting to you. With a fairly good Wis score, Magic Initiate in either Cleric or Druid could make for some interesting flavor. Skulker could be useful. As a human with no darkvision, being able to make Perception checks in dim light without Disadvantage is nice.

Hey there.
It depends as I see a few options that I personally would go.
1. Get max dex score for a.c., attack and damage bonus
2. Take resilient in dex as in later levels you get wisdom saves so to have 4 attributes that you are proficient in when it comes to saves is mad.
3. I personally like the observant feat due to getting a plus 1 in wisdom and a plus 5 to passive perception.
