Alright so on this thread, you post a picture of an animal, and then some random fact about that animal. Don't feel like you have to post "Real" animals however, and you can post anything from a hamster to a D&D monster.
Also don't feel like you need to have some random fact, all adorable animal pictures are deeply appreciated.
All white tigers are descended from the same common ancestor. Until 1915, they were thought to be a myth, until an Indian man by the name Local Maharaja caught the first documented white tiger. This tiger was then bred with normal tigers, resulting in several white tiger offspring. Their white fur is not actually full albinism, but rather a recessive gene that decreases color in the general body, but not the stripes.

Quokkas are objectively the best animal, anyone who disagrees needs a psychiatric evaluation
Quokkas are the worlds friendliest creatures. They are incredibly curios and afraid of nothing, because they have no natural enemies. They love hugs, and are very intelligent.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the sheer number of marsupials in Australia ridiculous. I mean, there are kangaroos, koalas, quokkas, how come they get all the cool stuff?

You're right. Look at their numbers. Because of that, not all of them receive good conditions. Most Australians love animals but they don't have enough time and resources to care for all of them.
