My group managed to snag a drop of blood from the BBEG without her noticing, and now we're trying to brainstorm ideas on what to do next. Some suggestions were to use it for scrying (but that's not likely to be successful) or attempting to cast Legend Lore on it. Looking for any ideas that are creative, fun, or outside the box!
Some notes... we're a lvl 10 party (druid, warlock, artificer, fighter) and it's very clear that we won't be able to go directly at the BBEG in open combat until close to lvl 20. Anything we do with a single drop of blood probably won't be game breaking...but being able to inconvenience her would be a huge plus.
What creature is the BBEG? A drop of blood is of no use to Legend Lore and most spell that need one as part of their Material component don't have tie to it. Can't think of anything right now without more info but any creative ideas will pass by your DM so it may be betetr to talk togheter.
For the BBEG, we honestly don’t know her creature type. She looks human, appears in dreams, and signs contracts with people. To our knowledge, she’s not a devil but shares a lot of temptation and corruption similarities. There’s a lot of in-game folklore about a ‘being that used to go around granting wishes’ that’s tied to her.
We were thinking about using her name + the blood to better ‘focus’ the spell for Legend Lore to potentially get better information (as long as our DM would be open to that working)—even though the blood isn't part of core mechanics.But you’re right. Anything we do that’s not standard rules would 100% be discussed with our DM for him to decided if it passes or not.
I’m just looking for general ideas, using core mechanics or otherwise. Or if anyone has done something neat with blood in their own games and wants to share their stories

I would try work with DM in creative ways to use the drop of blood to find more about the BBEG creature type & descriptive tag if any with either Divination magic, some ability checks with expert help so you may research more on it's traits, immunities or resistances, abilities of possible wish granting creature in library or sage;
For example Glabrezu, Fiend (Demon) or Djinni Elemental

Theoretically anything might be done with it.
This is D&D. We are allowed to play outside of the rules as written.
Witch vomit in my campaign world can be used for divination. But you won't find that in any book.
