Well, you could start threads in different sections of the forum focused on the specific topics you mentioned in your first post.
There's a Homebrew Section where you can talk about different homebrew ideas and see other peoples' ideas and help them.
You could go to the Story & Lore Section to talk about Characters or share the stories of campaigns.
As for general questions, there are two areas that cover most questions... the Tips and Tactics Section is useful for talking about character builds or sharing ideas, but the Rules and Mechanics Section is more for asking more in-depth questions about rules that might be confusing or just not very well explained in the books.
