Was curious to know if anyone knew why these 2 rather prominent gods don't have their own entries in the Gods of Faerûn? They're both still name dropped in the book in various places throughout the book, but neither have dedicated passages like other gods with stories closely tied to them (ex: Eilistraee and Lolth). Anyone know why they didn't make the cut?
I dont have access to the books yet but I would assume it is because they are not Forgotten Realms specific gods. As far as I remember they never had a dedicated entry in the gods section of the campaign books before. Ellistrae and Lloth probably got included because they have enough connection to FR specific lore. If you wanted to include every god from every species pantheon that would be a lot. They are usually covered in other books.
As stated above - They're not Realms-Specific deities and are the heads of racial pantheons. Heroes of Faerun doesn't focus on the pantheons of the different playable species, instead detailing the major Realms-Specific gods.
While the core Faerunian pantheon is broadly worshipped by any and all, they're essentially the 'Human gods' of the setting. The only exceptions listed in the current sourcebook being Lolth, Eilistraee and, arguably, Asmodeus.
While there are Realms-Specific members of the various racial pantheons, it looks like there's been an effort - at least in this book - to narrow the scope to the core Gods.
Anyone else here slightly disappointed about the gods section? I'm missing the elvish, orkish, gnomish (...) gods. And in the overview I'd love to have the domains mentioned.
And again, huge parts of Faerun are not even mentioned. Truth be told, I'm not 100 % happy about both products, especially looking at the huge price.
They have been in the campaign books but not in great detail - the details have been in the books specifically about the gods. As for covering all of Faerun I wasn’t really surprised. They did a decent job of updating the dales, moonshaeys, Calimshan icewind dale and Baldursgate in the DM book while covering what PCs would probably know about most major areas. They did leave out the Shaar and he south coast of Faerun ntil it reaches Calimshan but area has been mostly ignored for 50 years. I would have liked to see more about Cormyr and Sembia in the heartlands sections of both books but I can work with what is there. I never expected anything like the 1-3e campaign settings books - those days are basically gone. What they did do was update some of the main areas of 1-3e play that weren’t covered in earlier 5e books and adventures.

Those are not realms specific and have as far as I know never been in the campaign setting guides.
