Hey all! So the group I DM for has been playing together online since the pandemic started. Two weeks from now is our 1 year DnD anniversary. I want to do something special for the group, but since we all live in totally different places and play online, I'm not sure what. I was thinking a special oneshot, but I have no ideas for a story/no real time to write a story. Anybody have an idea on what I should do, or have a good oneshot I could run to make it a special night?
What if you run a one-shot where the characters crucially help out behind the scenes of the very first session of your main campaign? That would be an awesome callback to really tie it together!

I like that idea. The first campaign we ran was Lost Mines, so I could find some way for them to set up having Gundren Rockseeker hire the party or something.

What's the style of the campaign? What do they like?
If they like combat, a couple of free for all royal rumbles under varying circumstances.
If they like dungeons, pick up the nastiest one you can find, beef it up even more, and have them do a suicide run.
If they like mysteries, there's the new Candlekeep adventure book.
If they like roleplay, let them interview to become the elite agents for a powerful entity.
