So we got in to D&D today with The Starter Set.
He decided to roll a Draconic Paladin. He rolled 20/20/20/18/18/6.
So my question is: is that even allowed? :D
It is impossible to roll a 20 using 4d6-drop-lowest method, since the highest you can reach is 18 (3×6=18).

Ummmm, someone cheeaated!
Although even using the 4d6 drop lowest die with these 5E rules with races & classes can get you some SUPERMAN stats.
Your friend either cheated or didn't roll their stats correctly. A Dragonborn could, theoretically, roll 18 for STR and get it bumped to a 20, but even if they get perfect rolls for everything else the highest they could get is a 19 in CHA.

And now you too can play with the amazing art and assets we use in Roll20 for our campaign at Hazel's Emporium
It's literally impossible to start play with three 20s - the most 20s you can start with is 2, if you're a mountain dwarf.
Even if those had been straight 18s that would have meant he had to roll 15 6s out of the 24 dice rolled...
Your friend is either cheating or didn't understand the drop the lowest and added all 4d6 together
Your friend should roll when everyone at the table can see the rolls and record them.
