Roll20 makes a VTT and is an almost essential tool I used heavily for over 5 years, in addition to DDB, which I have used for about a year and a half. Now, no one answers any correspondence of any kind... No responses to tech support emails, or anything. I have several tickets open. I have tried several times to purchase my annual Pro membership, nothing... no dice. Does anyone on the inside have any information as to what happened over there? Did they go bankrupt, did Nolan end up going to jail or something? What happened?
I am just going to say it - Roll20 is terrible. Unless you are heavily invested there already, I would consider moving somewhere else. It started as a reasonably decent company with a good product. Still, in recent years their social and political stance has gone way off the deep end, and they have not remained competitive economically either. R&D also seems to have either stopped or slowed down dramatically, and what they have been coming out with doesn't seem to make much sense.
All the problems that Roll20 have had recently are possible because, in my opinion, at least, the infighting within the company has got out of hand. They have too many cooks, all pulling in different directions, trying to outdo each other and prove that their vision of what the product should be is the right one.
Until the people behind roll20 sort out their internal politics and get back to the core of what made them good initially, I can not, in good conscience, recommend roll20 to anyone.

Intersectional issues, their social and political stance, etc...can RodneyMcNeely and TWForgeCleric give a little more info? I am in no way affiliated with Roll20, but I have used it several times for games. I will admit, I have been on the fence about some of the things I have seen about Roll20 over the last year, but further info would be really helpful.
I suspect it would not be a good idea to air social/political stuff about another company on these forums. If you want to get into it, you should probably take it to private messages.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.

Okay, in all fairness, I have no clue. I don't use them because I have XCel on my computer l, trust my players, and use D&DB. That's just the impression I got from Kody on Taking20 when he was complaining about it... and I hardly trust him for anything other than legal stuff. Just trying to make a joke.
And seriously, politics are everywhere and this is a mostly safe space from that annoyance. If I wanted to listen to rich people complain about other rich people, I wouldn't use D&D as a form of escapism. That's what any Activision Blizard site is for.
Notes: Please keep posts respectful and constructive.
We use Roll20 for our games, free membership only and as lite users are perfectly happy with the features and ease of use. Couldn't care less about what goes on behind the scenes. Never had to submit a ticket, so no idea how bad their customer service is. It sounds like if you are like us and are happy with the basic toolset then it's a great product that can do what you want. However if you get into advanced features the difficulty increases until it reportedly becomes frustrating. I would have no trouble recommending it to others, hell it's free, so hard to knock something given away.

no
They are taking a long time to respond to submitted tickets. Possibly even weeks.
I've moved to Foundry.
I am completely dissillusioned with them as a company, they can pay me to use their product from now on
no

Just gonna jump in to point out this is not the place to discuss social or political issues, regardless of who or what they're in regards to.
