The first step is to know your party. If you have players inexperienced, young or causal gamers then I would suggest keeping things as simple as possible. In the exams of traps have someone make a detection roll and a disarm roll. If the party has a character built for the roll any applicable skill can be used, just stick to one way pf doing it.
If your Ayers are looking for more then give it to them. Allow a Perception check to find something with visual elements. It the obstacle is well hidden or complex then use Investigation. If a successful Investigation check is used then you can assume a better mechanical understanding and give the disarm Advantage. If it is highly mechanical then allow a Tinkers tools.
If a character takes an engineering approach then Intelligence can be used as a base state as if you are Tony Stark mentally taking apart a trap in your mind as apposed to the tradition touch and finesse Dexterity approach. Maybe once the trap is understood or a lock is damaged the best approach might be the dwarven tank taking a hammer to it.
Which approach will go e your group the best experience for them?
