So was brainstorming and so far race wise i have pallid elf (Tashas custom stat placements) eloquence bard.
pallid elf (advantage on all wisdom insight and intelligence investigation checks along with gaining prof in perception)
eloquence bard (all rolls 9 and below for charisma deception and persuasion checks are counted as a 10)
this makes you a perceptive fast talker which is cool, what feats would you go for on this kind of character? Or are there better races/classes for this stuff? Keep in mind level 3 with 20 charisma you can’t roll under a 17 and with expertise you can’t roll under a 19 for persuasion and deception.
Just for clarification, pallid elves have advantage on wisdom insight and intelligence investigation checks. I use pallid elves for my Sherlock Holmes type of characters, where their job is to figure things out and look for traps; they are basically the eyes, ears, and brain of the group. I also like autumn eladrin for charming others; you can also jump scare others as a winter eladrin. Mark of shadow elves can add 1d4 to performance.
For other races, changelings are very good for infiltration; loxodon has advantage on perception, survival, and investigation checks involving smell; vedalken can add 1d4 to one of their skill and tool checks; Kenku can forge documents and mimic voices; mark of detection half elves can add 1d4 to investigation or insight; halflings can reroll 1s; mark of hospitality halflings can add 1d4 to persuasion and essentially bribe people with drinks and food.
For social interactions, bards are pretty nice thematically and they can augment their social interactions with high level spells. However, rogues are pretty good too, and rogues cannot roll lower than 10 on any skill they are proficient with.
For bards, I like college of glamour; you can turn people into adoring fans and you can order your fan club around.
Just wait until your Eloquence bard gets to level 15 and gets Glibness. With Expertise and 20 Charisma, you have a minimum of 30 on Charisma checks.

Sorry i meant wisdom insight, will correct that, thanks lol
also not saying other options aren’t viable but more of the best even by a little at specifically being social is all.
also eloquence i would argue is a bit better than glamour in my opinion, mainly because at level 3 you can use bardic inspiration to mess with an enemies Saving throw which is a bonus action.
although flavor wise I love the idea of an eloquence bard loxodon diplomat trying to find middle grounds and mediate for opposing sides while spouting philosophy lol.
