Beyond that you'll need a group to play with, whether you know some people who may want to or there are forums/areas here on D&D Beyond or Discord or Reddit where you can find a group to play with. If you want to play using D&D Beyond you will need to either use the classes/races etc available in the Basic Rules, Buy the things which you want or hope you're joining a group with Content Sharing.
Take a look at the play-by-post campaigns on the site or look up D&D games on youtube to get an idea of what it's like. Don't expect every game to be completely similar to any of that, every group is different, but it should let you know the basics of how a game of D&D is played.
If you want to try it yourself you will need a group (or at least one other person, though the more common experience is 3-5 players and a DM) to play with, as OhSinnerman says. Google "Dungeons and Dragons [insert your location here]", find Looking For Group forums, ask around in game stores, ask friends and relatives who might be interested as well.
I'm really confused
