So wifey said to me a while back after watching the new Stranger Things trailer... "I want to play D&D."
It was her birthday coming up and bought her the Player's Guide and a starter campaign (not on D&DB). Then got into D&DB and feel like I'm stuck. I have the yearly Masters subscription, the PHB, DMG, MM...
I started a Campaign, invited players, but now... just stuck.
Do I need to buy adventures now, add them to the campaign to create the encounters?
You do not need to buy anything to play D&D, not even on DDB.
That said, since you have the Master sub, PHB (2014 or 2024?), the DMG (2014 or 2024?), and the MM, you have all you need to build an adventure and more!
Master sub will allow you to use the Maps Tool. You don't need a sub for the Encounter Builder though if you have second thoughts about your sub. Both are Beta though, so expect bugs.
If you need ideas for an adventure, I would start with the free ones that are available on the site (check out my signature for that) to get the creative juices flowing.
Appreciate he response! I bought all of the 2024 material - I don't have any monsters available in the encounter either...
That should not be the case at all. I found a how-to-use guide on YT. It seemed to be what you might need to guide you through it but I only watched the first couple of minutes.
I recommend "claiming" the free adventures uni-and-the-hunt-for-the-lost-horn and scions-of-elemental-evil. They are free adventures that also contain stat blocks for some monsters and npcs you can use along with those in the PHB. Hopefully those links will take you to the right place.
