Hello! I'm currently playing a campaign where we're still getting to know each other better and taking on smaller jobs with our lvl 3 characters, and the DM recently said we'll be moving on to the main story soon at lvl 5 . He asked us all to look for one magic item what we will get before starting the main story line. It can be homebrew or from an official source, the point is not to be too overpowered, just a starter magic item. I've been browsing for days and I've found so many things, but still don't feel like I've found the right one. I currently have a DEX based cleric, a bit rougish like n using crossbow usually (darkness domain- crown of the oathbreaker) I would like a magic item that is a bit creative and can be used in many situations maybe something fun. (like Amulet of the Drunkard) If anyone has any suggestions, don't keep it to yourself, you can also offer your own creations! So lets begin and pls help me :D
"Dex-based cleric" isn't quite enough to go on mechanically, what's your character's role in the party? Are you primarily a healer/buffer and protector? A controller or debuffer? A blaster? A striker from the shadows?
There are a number of generally useful and not-all-that-rare items that pretty much any cleric can benefit from (e.g. Amulet of the Devout or Guardian Emblem) but ideally we'd be suggesting something more closely tied to your desired role in the party. Alternatively, you might be more interested in something less mechanically useful but more zany or funny at the table.
The Bag of Tricks is a decent Uncommon item with lots of room for funny solutions or events. Deck of Illusions is another fun pick, although it will eventually run out.
Sorry, had two items in the post and it was trying to read them as a single massive tooltip, even though I bracketed each one with a begin and end bit.
PsyrenXY: we don't play a hardcore bloody darksoul like game so I don't have to play my ch "the classic ways", and the darkness domain in this source (Crown of the oathbreaker) fits my idea quite well. Anyway My charater more like a scout, a buffer and a supporter from afar, not a vanguard or protector. and the amulet of Devout is a good recommendation, thx!
The Ace of Rouges: the bag of tricks and deck of illusion I thought about these too, thx for your time too :)
This cape smells faintly of brimstone. While wearing it, you can use it to cast the dimension door spell as an action. This property of the cape can't be used again until the next dawn.
When you disappear, you leave behind a cloud of smoke, and you appear in a similar cloud of smoke at your destination. The smoke lightly obscures the space you left and the space you appear in, and it dissipates at the end of your next turn. A light or stronger wind disperses the smoke.

I find this a fun item that can get you out of a jam.
