I know that in the FAQ they state that after unsubscribing you pick which 6 of your characters you would like to remain active as a free account. My question is, what is the state of the inactive characters, can you open the character sheets at all? Or are they completely locked and you can only see Name - Level - Class from the "My Characters" screen.

They are completely locked. You can't open or view the sheets. All you have is what you see on the 'My Characters' screen.
