So my PCs are level 8 right now, but around level 10 they'll go into a mountain that is in fact a Far Realm starship that crashed on the planet a thousand years ago and used an advanced cloaking system to build a mountain around itself.
The ship is filled with sci-fi references/jokes from movies that I think my players will enjoy. Which of these would you get?
As they try to enter the PCs are met by a Programmed Illusion of a young tiefling girl that says "You're all going to die down here."
Further conversation will reveal the girl is called Owess.
In the first corridor, they find that there is a hole in the floor. A successful medicine or investigation check will show that it has been eaten through by acid.
In the engineering section, the machinery says "Aperture Technology." The ship moves by travelling through wormholes.
The ship is overrun with creatures that wake up from stasis. They are plant based, but have acid for blood. They try to drag PCs off to a much bigger version of themselves.
Owess will seal the ship and cut off the air at some point. To get out, they have to float in a zero gravity room and deactivate her bit by bit.
Finding a programmed illusion ship's log, a mindflayer will say in infernal 'Save yourselves from hell.'
I got all of the references except the name 'Owess'. But this is supposed to be a joke campaign, right? Because any kind of serious campaign would just quickly deteriorate if you all of the sudden came across of sci-fi jokes. And if you're doing that you should at least throw in a few towels and combine the Event Horizon reference with the Romanes eunt domus-gag from Life of Brian. :D

We manage a good balance of serious and light hearted. In a previous campaign, which was entirely serious, one of the players had a habit of telling tall stories about his life which were in fact the plots of movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark or Star Wars: A New Hope.
If you fancy seeing this in action, the High Rollers 'Aerois' campaign on Twitch.tv (worth a watch for anyone I'd say) currently has level 15 characters in a very serious campaign effectively fighting Decepticons. Previously they had a stealth dungeon that was full of slightly renamed bosses from Metal Gear Solid.

As they try to enter the PCs are met by a Programmed Illusion of a young tiefling girl that says "You're all going to die down here." Resident Evil.
Further conversation will reveal the girl is called Owess. That's got to be Resident Evil, but I can't find any reference of any kind to a character named "Owess".

The only one I actually recognized without having to look anything up was "Aliens" from number 3 The rest were familiar enough that I could find something. I keep looking for "Owess" in one of the System Shock video games, and had no luck.
All except Owess - and if I encountered any of those in a game it would pull me completely out of the story - and I would not appreciate it. But then I am really not a fan of joke/semi-serious games.

Different games for different folks. You definitely would not have enjoyed the flumph strewn acid trip they had at level 4.
I'm guessing Owess is just a pun on OS... as in, she's the ship's operating system?

I don't know this one. The closest I can think of is Valen Dreth from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's tutorial, but that's fantasy. You're going to die in here, Imperial. You're going to die!
I don't know this Owess I'm afraid.
The corridor I'm guessing is a reference to Alien Resurrection(?), where the captive aliens kill another to escape through the floor?
Aperture Technology is a reference to the video game Portal.
I believe this is a reference to Dead Space's Necromorphs, but honestly, I've no idea.
No idea.
I've not seen it but from what I gather from the synopsis this is a reference to Event Horizon?
Sounds like a very fun adventure! I really enjoyed the pop-culture references in the early Fallout video games and this reminds me of that sort of humour.

Zero is the most important number in D&D: Session Zero sets the boundaries and the tone; Rule Zero dictates the Dungeon Master (DM) is the final arbiter; and Zero D&D is better than Bad D&D.

Probably not, but I'm in the minority usually in my dnd group when there are sci fi references. I like star trek etc but haven't finished all the episodes.
I only got number 2 and number 4- OS and Portal, I believe.

I understood 3-6, though I also wondered if I was right about 5 being another Aliens reference or if it was something else.

I'm dying to find out who "Owess" is.

I didn't read the responses yet, but I like the references /applause.
I think throwing in something with stealth technologies might be appropriate.
