i got a riddle from my DM and said we can try to solve it but all he gave was that all we need is in the riddle and he wont tell us if its the right or wrong answer, what do you think is the answer is? the riddle is: Here lies the mighty King Grotho, unequaled amongst men. Know ye tomb robbers that only death awaits inside. Should ye place so little value on your lives that ye wish to enter, an offering must be made. Freeing me can bring both war and strife, I am there at the beginning of life, I am the symbol of kin, and the pathway of kings. Present me, and pass.
blood. Drawing blood leads to conflict, childbirth is a bloody affair, kin means being related by blood, and coming from a royal bloodline makes one a potential heir to the throne. To present it, you probably just need to make a cut and let some of your blood well up (maybe just one PC, maybe all who want to enter).

Not that I'm not confident, but I'd love it if there were another answer that's just as correct.
I'm 100% certain you're right, but as a thought exercise,
The riddle is clearly written by a riddlesmith who's biased by their local culture, assuming things that aren't true for many species (blood isn't there at the beginning of life for anything that doesn't have blood, like spiders, with more examples besides, like fish, where the way life begins just isn't bloody) and many cultures (neither the symbol of kinship nor the pathway of kings need be blood outside of the riddlesmith's home culture). That's not in any way a criticism of the DM - it's entirely consistent worldbuilding for a riddlesmith to assume the one answering the riddle embraces cultural memes. That said, with different cultural memes, the correct answer could be religion. It ticks every box for the right culture, by which I mean one which is extremely theocratic and intolerant of rival religions:
First criterion is satisfied if the culture is convinced freedom of religion is what causes war and strife, and the only way to achieve peace is if everyone follows their religion.
Second criterion is satisfied by the majority of creation myths.
Third criterion is satisfied if their religion emphasizes that kinship is based on sharing the religion, not things like shared parenthood or nationality.
Fourth criterion is satisfied if the monarch is selected by the head of the religion.
Freeing me can bring both war and strife, I am there at the beginning of life, I am the symbol of kin, and the pathway of kings.

If that's the case then,
You better have a Cleric or Paladin in your party, because I am not sure how else you would present religion outside of a Holy Symbol.
Everybody can
pray.

Did your DM say that you could ask folks to help you? This is a nice riddle, don't want to ruin it if you're not supposed to have help.
Birgit | Shifter | Sorcerer | Dragonlords
Shayone | Hobgoblin | Sorcerer | Netherdeep
were allowed all types of help, dont worry I wouldn't have posted unless I knew I could, thanks for making sure thou
My guess is that it’s
Nice riddle, compliments to your DM.
