Hi all! I’m Fiona. I apologize if this is the wrong category for a post like this, but it seemed to be the most fitting.
I began DMing my first homebrew campaign in March, and it’s been amazing! However, I’ve learned that having someone to give advice and to bounce ideas off of is super helpful. So, I was thinking, why not make a server where people who find this helpful can talk!
If anyone is interested, please reach out to me here or on Discord: fiona#6357
The official Discords for D&D and DDB, which have hundreds of thousands of members, are absolutely useless as places of worthwhile discussion. They're basically Infinite Meme Jars that exist as a slophouse of nonsense and a rapid pulse check for their respective organizations, not somewhere you can have a focused conversation. Neither is useful for what Fiona requested. Rather than castigate her for that or pick on each other, perhaps stick to the matter at hand?
Fiona, you may have better luck trying this request in the DMs Only section of the forum, rather than GD. That's where DMs hang out, and it may be a place for you to meet people you mesh with and invest in inviting people you like rather than relying on an all-comers post.

As someone who really became involved in the D&D Beyond community through the discord server (and that's actually how I ended up a moderator), I would like to disagree that our server is, and I quote, "basically Infinite Meme Jars that exist as a slophouse of nonsense". For starters, we actively have rules against memes and other such low-effort nonsense on the servers and go to great efforts to ensure conversations are constructive. We have two channels that would be suitable for the OP, #dm-discussion and #homebrew-discussion, both of which regularly play host to in-depth and comprehensive conversations.
As for "and a rapid pulse check for their respective organizations", to prevent that from obfuscating any worthwhile conversations, we actually have four channels for getting information on the site; an announcements channel, a feedback channel, a DDB help channel and finally a moderator support channel. We take the organisation and quality of experience on the server very seriously
Fiona, I wholeheartedly invite you to check out the server, we may have tens of thousands of members, but I do not for a second think you would find it overwhelming.

There is an official dungeons and dragons discord with hundreds of thousands of people and lots of channels to discuss D&D
https://discord.com/channels/720382370141700156
dndbeyond has one too I believe
Thanks, but the number of people in that server would definitely overwhelm me. My ideal would be something a little more chill. But thank you!
Okay. Settle down, you lot.
