New to playing D&D and just started in a campaign and I'm playing with this idea, as the title suggests I want to start as a Ranger and at Lvl 3 subclass to Gloomstalker who fights with two swords and at a later point multiclass into a Hexblade warlock.
My character is currently at Lvl1 Dragonborn Ranger and will milestone to Lvl 2 after our next session.
What I'm going for is the ultimate up close assassin/infiltrater who combines his skill with swords and cover of darkness, as well as an array of spells to manipulate his prey/target. Like 'spider climb' to ambush, or even the 'Suggest' spell to tell a victim to walk directly towards me in the dark while I simply hold out my sword for them to pierce their own heart.
However I'm concerned with how I might find myself stuck with too many options for my bonus action in combat, or if the mechanics just don't add up?
As a general rule, Hexblade is picked up as a subclass to solve problems Gloomstalkers don't have, and the whole concept is MAD (Multiple Ability Dependent) - you'll need Dex, Wis, and Cha 13 to legally multiclass, on top of the Con you already desperately need as a spellcaster who's not proficient in Con saves. For the first bit, Hexblade's single best feature is letting you use Charisma to attack - but your Gloomstalker build can already use Dexterity to attack just fine. Why Hexblade?
If all you're after is a multiclass dip to improve your spellcasting, I'd recommend looking into Cleric. Like Warlock, it subclasses at level 1 so a 1-dip is enough for subclass benefits.
As an aside "the 'Suggest' spell to tell a victim to walk directly towards me in the dark while I simply hold out my sword for them to pierce their own heart" is likely not to be allowed by your DM, or at least not as easy as that, especially since Darkness and Suggestion are both Concentration spells.

Any help or tips on if this is a good idea?
