I've been pretty disappointed over the latest releases. Candlekeep and Van Richten was meh, Strixhaven is not for me and Witchlight sadly seems to be a boring kiddie-friendly take on fey.
But FToD has my juices flowing, I will definitely get it both here and the physical book. Finally something that actually can be good and interesting!
Yeah, everything else they have announced recently is a pass for me, but I have this book preordered already. I am most excited for Gem Dragons and more Draconic monsters to throw at my players.
2 whole sub-classes. Gem Dragons and Dragonborn based on them, monsters with a challenge rating higher than I'm ever likely to need, a few more monsters I might use and a bunch of lore I'm going to ignore because it's not relevant to my campaign setting. I think I'll be giving this one a miss. I'm glad it's not a Dragonlance book though. I hate that setting.
I'm betting Colevill's Gemstone Dragons and Gemstone Dragonborn are going to be better implemented than these...
... and since I am already using his stuff in my world, I think I will just keep it and save the $$ on yet another book I will have very little need to use.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
Well, I know I’m very hyped! I’ve always enjoyed reading the various Dragon themed books that have come out over the various edition and I doubt this one will be any different (am I weird for reading D&D books just for fun?). I can’t wait to see what Dragons they introduce in this book (besides Gem Dragon), and what this “First World” lore is about.
Plus the alternate cover looks dope too!

"Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup."
In that article it says that the 5 types includes Ruby Dragons and left out Crystal Dragons. I wonder if he got that wrong considering the Lore and what The Ruby Dragon has been in the past.
Well, the Dragon UA listed Crystal dragons as one of the Dragonborn origin options. Plus that Dragon on the cover looks more like a crystal dragon than any other Gem Dragon (though I could be some other dragon to be fair). Plus Sardior is suppose to be the only Ruby Dragon. So I’m assuming it’s a typo.

I'm excited to have my main party's Drakewarden finally become a real boy and new Tiamat and Bahamut lore is very intriguing.
I wish the regular/alternate covers were half as cool as Rise of Tiamat, but they'll do... I'm not into the uniformly thick necks and smaller heads of dragons like I've seen in the MtG Tiamat card art.
Dragonlance fans, I wouldn't get your hopes up about this book. Like MToF, VGtM, and TCoE the cover "celebrity" is almost certainly just for minor flavor text in the book.
Man. If only anybody cared what Dragonlance fans thought.
:P
I kid, I kid. Clearly you guys are getting your book on the soonish, they wouldn't be teasing DL people this way if they weren't in the process of making good on it. They've been dangling DL out there for over a year now, and this Fizban guy seems like a definitive cheeky nod to that crowd.

I like Coleville's Gem Dragons too. I think I'd agree they're "better" in that they're probably a more "richer" monster than what WotC will likely produce (using canonical sapphire dragon as precedent) but also require a lot more investment in the DM to run properly (the psychics are wild). And since I actually really like the personality of the sapphire dragon in Wizards as well, I'll probably do a sorta both/and thing with them.
This article had some interesting tidbits, it's one of those things where I'm not sure if it was reported properly or not, but it sounds like all dragons not just Tiamat and Bahamut live in multiple realities as echoes of themselves and can have relationships with their alternate self, the greatest development step a dragon can take being a sort of unification of its echoes across all realities. It sounds sort of cool, and seems to be a further pushing of a sort of D&D metaphysics you get in their PR emphasis on Dream of the Blue Veil when Tasha's was released. Frankly, furthering of that sort of logic I think promote the need for something like planescape and spell jammer being introduced for D&D to be truly complete. D&D needs to explode into the cosmic weird before it eats itself and is reborn as another edition or rules format.
Article also makes Wild Beyond the Witchlight sound like literal childsplay and not the Feywild book folks are hoping it will do double duty as. I think this may just be one I read through and put on my shelf (also another 1-8 level adventure book, sigh).
I love dragons so I'll probably be picking this up even if we'll likely be done with tyranny of dragons by the time it releases (or at the very least so close to done that the book won't have anything I can use to add to the campaign).
Freaking hyped for this new book. Dragonborn finally getting some love from those new UA ancestries. (Also F in chat for Draconic Kobold not making it out of UA)
The only thing I would say kinda bums me is that Monk and Ranger are getting dragon themed subclasses but not Warlock. I've always felt like a Warlock making a pact with Tiamat or any other draconic entity would be a cool concept to explore.

Whelp. There's the 'Dragons' book. Now all we need is a Dungeon Diary and the game will be complete forever, time for a new edition.

I might add Spelljammer and a plane book, then I agree that the edition is complete.
